I was wondering if anyone has bought the Show Chrome valve covers. They are like half the price as OEM. How is the overall quality and is the chrome any good. A review would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking about having the ones on my bike re chromed but the Show Chrome ones may be cheaper if they are any good.

Can't answer your question, but if it was me I'd be more inclined to have them show chromed at a quality chrome shop.

I don't have first hand experience with those covers,,, but from experience with MANY aftermarket parts over the years, the quality is almost never up to the original for a whole list of reasons.

Are you actually talking about the valve covers? I've not heard of anyone having issues with the finish on the valve covers before. I know that some have painted or powder coated them for aesthetic reasons. Some have replaced them with Gold wing valve covers. Are they badly scratched or something? I know the end plates at the rear of each cylinder head are just aluminum, stock and not chromed. I sanded and polished mine.

Yes I'm talking about the head/valve covers. There are several spots on each valve cover where the chrome is bubbling and under the bolts in several of the  bolt hole wells the chrome is bubbling as well. I'm going to a Chrome shop tomorrow to get a price on chroming some other stuff and I'm going to talk to him about the valve covers. I know there are other options such as powder coating but I would like to keep it original as possible if it doesn't cost too much. I can get a set of new Show Chrome after market for under $400 but I'm concerned about the quality. That is why I posted to see if anyone here has bought any of them.

Your post taught me that Show Chrome does indeed make these covers.  cooldude  I've bought a lot of Big Bike product over the years and it's always been quality. That said, I'm guessing that you can get your OEM covers rechromed for less money, probably about half the price. The downside to rechroming is the bike sits.  tickedoff
