Got a new Big Boy seat last Feb.  Love it, it's very comfy.  cooldude cooldude

Lately, the backrest has been creaking  ???  Angry whenever I lean against it, which is all the time.

I did a search in the Tech board, but nothing showed up related to the problem.

Thought I'd ask around here first before I contact Ultimate.

Any suggestions?

TIA

Utimate Big Boy was on my bike when I bought it. Mine started making noise when there was light pressure against it when I went over bumps. If you turn the seat over, there is a flap in the back that covers a screw that I believe tightens the back rest in place. Mine is a for a flat blade screwdriver. Unfortunatly mine is bound up and will not turn. I cleaned all the gunk off of the part that slides into the back rest channel and sprayed some lithium grease in the channel. That helped a lot. Some day I am going to have to drill out the frozen screw.  It is not easy to get to.

I got that stuff you dip tool handles in to rubber coat them, and painted it on the seat-tab,
and the fender-slot that the seat-tab goes into... has worked for a long time...

It was my backrest making the creaking, squeaking noise. I could lean back against the back rest and lean forward and it would squeak. Mine was not the seat mounting tabs.

I get squeaks from both places from time to time.

Mine was Ultimately related to the seat tab as well, but most aggravated by pressure on the backrest and some shuffling around in the seat. I had wrapped some electrical tape on mine when out on the road on a Yosemite trip for a quick fix. I just recently wrapped some new tape on it as the old was now hitting close to 4 years of dedicated service and had more than done its job.  Wink

I like that rubber coated paint idea.

I don't have one but how about teflon tape or nylon washers?

Never had a seat squeak, but had a backrest squeak... just rapped the post with electrical tape (not too much).

What is its purpose (it says nothing about not adjusting it)? Looks like it would tighten up the back rest bar that goes into the seat to set the back rest height.
