Here's a relatively recent update on the concept:

It sounds like it's unlikely to ever get the cost-benefit balance attractive enough to be readily available.

Right-On! I don't see much difference. I personally don't use it because I don't want to deal with the mess at tire changing time. I'll have to ask my local cycle shop if they charge anything extra when they have to clean it up on a tire change.

I use Ride-On and my tire shop has never commented on the stuff, complained or charged me extra.

I just changed my rear, after having Ride On in it for about a year and a half... the compound collects in the well of the tire, not on the rim.  And seeing that it didn't cause any corrosion at all,I will continue to use it.

Ride-On stays in the center of the tire as a semi solid. There is no mess for the most part.
Tire Goop and some other sealants that mostly don't work.
Stay in there as a liquid.
Those are messy as all get out when removing a tire.
Took me ovr a half hour to clean a rear rim one time and that was with the rim off the bike.

That's good to know. I had two blowouts in the past couple years due to objects in the highway. My try some. It might save me from pushing this thing again.
