The mechanicals are as good as I can foresee, bags are packed, bills are paid. The weather; well we'll see. It will be good to get back on the road as riding the last couple of weeks has been slighted due to our rain schedule; not that that ever matters anyway. Yep, heading to Wisconsin, probally not riding the best routes, keeping the super slab riding to a minimum other than departing Florida via I-75 and a couple places here and there. Billyboy and I are riding the flight north together, leaving Wednesday the 10th early am to make miles out of the state before the clouds start building for the noon on showers. Planning on making Birmingham, Al by Wednesday late afternoon, a long run but it will relax the timing for the rest of the trip. Some good scenic riding planned after that with no special schedule other than arriving in LaCrosse Sunday afternoon. I have a couple of side trips planned for the Inzane week, one over to Austin, Mn., I used to live there, and one to Camp Douglas, WI to meet a friend for a quick evening meetup, and a couple little rides. The route back is not inked out but I'll probally mosy back eastward then via the Blue Ridge half way then down through Georgia and home. We'll see what the road offers! Jim

Oh how I wish I were going with you, or even going for that matter. If I were able to make the trip, I also planned a trip to Austin, MN but probably after InZane. I have family there, also family just across the border into Iowa around the Riceville, IA area. Many I've not seen in decades but stay in touch. Yes, I'm jealous of you two. Would love to be able to leave, but can't.

Jim and Bill Will see you up there, it's not friday yet! If remenber if you come up hwy3 or river road go thur Savana Il and stop - theres Poppie's ( A HD rider gave it a Thums up I have never been - Bikers place to eat) and the Iorn Horse Socal Culb a Old Bar/Musem (no Cover) on the way to the brige that crosses back to Ia. Many HD and Indian's a 3 story building full of old M/C stuff. And if you cross that way just a ride to Nation M/C Musem & JP Cycles. If you do that you are about 3hrs away from InZain13. Keep the rubber side down David

Thanks Jeff, not alot of pic's until today. We rode 550 miles Wednesday, Tampa to Leeds, Alabama. .the rain from Opelika to Birmingham was pretty bad. Went to the Barber Motor Sports museum Today. Quite a fine collection of motorcycles, including a Valk with only 10 miles on it. Staying tonight in Florence, Alabama , rode only about 200 today but agood meal, route options review, and a few hours rest tonight for hopefully better weather in the morning. Forcast looks good. I'm enjoying the adventure. I have to say our bikes are loaded and the Valks are real workhorses.

Hey guys, just a quick update ! The backroads up here are fantastic! I rode to Austin, Minnesota on monday, met up with Indian Dave on Tuesday and took him back that direction , today we rode some Wisconsin backroads. Very hot up here; 98 degrees in the shade. Starting to watch the weather closely for heading south via.... .not sure; as it will depend on weather.

Hey it was great meeting Billyboy at InZane and Jim too - I'm still on the road in Canada, have been without cell or internet since Friday! Made it to the Sue St Marie tonight ( ya I know that not how it's spelled) - will be heading out in am up 129( in Canada) then east to Maine hope to beat the storm ( so far have missed the wx left Lacrosse after front went thru). Meet some great Finn's from Canada, let me stay the last two night at their place for Free - feed me too (like I eat a Lot). Ate Moose and salted fish sandwiches both real good. One had a cabin on the Lake, and I was almost not coming home! But it gets a little cool up here and they have way more mosquitos then us in FL, but their really slow A easy kill.
Hope Jim and Bill made it home safe the wx was not looking good for them.
Later till the next meet David

Got back from Inzane last night around 7:00. Took me 14 hours from Atlanta, rain almost all the way. Man I'm Beat! Had a great time with good people and some really nice roads even if they were a little bumpy and a whole lot of Phat Girls. James was going to go to the Blue Ridge but I guess he got rained out. Have not heard from him in a day or two. Bikes ran great except in an Iowa corn field when we stopped and my bike would not start checked fuses, nothing. Lesson 1 with lecktic stuff, check battery terminals first. And off we go Still working with the pics.

And what a ride it was! Doesn't matter where you are, rain gear is HOT..... The ride up to LaCrosse with Billyboy was fantastic! We moved up through the deep south, had quite a bit of rain off and on and extreme heat. We made good time anyway, and photos just don't capture the images one actually sees on the road. Tampa to Leeds, Al on a bike for a first day out was a dam good run. The next morning a ride across the street from the hotel put us in a Bass Pro Shop; never been to one. Here's my riding partner Billyboy Then around the corner to Barber Motorsports Quite a display of vintage and rare motorcycles, and other motorsport related pieces. Well worth checking out for several hours. Here's just a few pics. And of course our beloved Valkyrie! That Valk has only a few miles on it.....how's this for an alternator cover......wrinkles...it's brand new! Catching the Natchez Trace at Florence riding north was very nice. A couple of quick pics. We slid into the St Louis area, at a park across the river from the Gateway Arch. Nether Billy or I really wanted to get into the traffic across the river. Don't know who the guy Billyboy was talking to up on top of the observation tower. On up into the midwest into Iowa. Here's an Iowa sunset. We stopped at Grants house along the way.....I think it was Grant??? The vistas along the way were fantastic. We rolled into LaCrosse Sunday, in time to check in and join in the early bird picnic and opening events.

Meeting fellow riders, kicking the tires, and riding new areas filled the Inzane week for me. The rural back roads are wonderful through the windy grain belt of America. The pleasure of endless roads, no traffic and open country are priceless. I didn't attend very much of the organised events during the day and chose to ride out on daily out rides seeing the countryside. Here's a few pics touring the northern countryside. Land of the windmills A ride out with Indian Dave Dinner out in the historic district of LaCrosse with Indian Dave The week long riding was great. Rode with a few others including Dave of Cory products who furnished the bike wash wares for folks to wash their bikes at Inzane; I did wash the ride each morning!!! After leaving Friday during a rain break I headed south toward home...well every intension of heading home....ward. Heat, rain, miles of road was becoming the norm. Bedding down in Fort Campbell, KY with rain through the night and morning I enjoyed another fine day of riding most of the day then the deluge hit heading into Alabama. Made Anniston, Al in a storm....some of the hardest, heaviest rain ever in my life, and 2nd hardest riding in my life. (bad weather in the Blue Ridge #1) It rained all night and was pouring in the morning. I decided I wasn't ready to get home. I left Anniston and headed to Gatlinburg, TN.. Overnighted and headed up the Blue Ridge. Rode west to east on the Blue Ridge, pretty fair weather, some off and on rain. Stayed in Boone for the evening, ate a good dinner and crashed out early. Rode on to Fancy Gap then took Interstate 77 up through W. Virginia to Parkersburg to visit my Uncle. Then home bound back down 77 to Columbia, SC for a night. Interstate 20 to 75 at Macon and home on Sunday afternoon July 28. What a ride it has been. Hope for many more in the future. After a while on the road riding long distances, a personal routine kicks in and becomes very enjoyable. A typical road lunch for me became a Subway sandwich, because subways are everywhere....fast in and back on the road. Evenings are spent getting ready for the next day, drying out gear, checking over the machine and enjoying a few soundless hours. I lost tail lights somewhere, bottomed out and knew I had damaged the harness under the rear fender. Must have ridden 1500 miles without them, but had T/S and brake lights on my aux tank. Was trying not to do much night riding but with the rain it was not a comfortable feeling. The road lunch I enjoyed the entire trip, enjoyed Billyboy's company and meeting so many fantastic folks at Inzane. On a side note, anyone trying to call my cellphone 727 number.....that phone didn't survive the entire trip. With the road heat, constant charging required for the nav to operate.....it actually burned up. Going to take it in for replacement during the week now that I'm home. Going to start looking at other motorcycle nav options. I can be reached at the 984- number, the last 4 are the same. Hope to go on the road maybe late September for a Blue Ridge Parkway ride. Thanks to everyone I came across on the road and at the event....What a ride!!!! James
