I did the bearing mod to my rear wheel about 25000 miles ago.I had 125000 miles on the original stock bearings.I was having some noise and roughness from the rear and checked it.The new larger bearing on the rear wheel was loose and wore out the hole to where the wheel is scrap.I ordered a wheel from ebay and will replace it soon.I am going to have both wheels powder coated pearl white to match the stripe on my 02 blue and white valk. I don't have a clue as to why the wheel went bad but I am going back to stock and Timkin bearings all around.Something to keep an eye on during inspection

Any chance that the cut-down bearing spacer was too long and bound up the bearings due to side load? Was the dual row bearing pressed in properly when installed?

No ,if it was too long I couldn't install if besides the center spacer keeps the bearing in the proper place.Now if that was worn out it would cause problems but it is ok.As it is right now I reinstalled the bearing with shims and epoxy and have almost 3000 miles on it .I am going to replace everything next week,wheel and bearings ,spacer,seals.The old wheel is scrap

Don't throw out the wheel. A good machine shop should be able to repair that for less than $35. The same thing happened to my buddy an he had his repaired and works just fine
