I am looking at a Metzeler ME 880 150/80v-16 for the front of my 2001 Standard. The Dunlop currently on it is a 150/80-17 are these the same size? The web site I am looking at says it is the same size. My speedo seems to be off about 5 mph and I don't want to make that worse. Also is $165 and change a good price? Thanks, JDW  Undecided

Not the same size.  One is a 16", and the other is a 17".  This # is your rim size.

If your looking at Dennis Kirk, then the advertised rim size is wrong. But when you order it, it comes as a 17" rim. Orderd mine 3 weeks ago. But yes, that is a good buy. Metz are really good tires. No complaints.

The Metz's I had handled ok, but wore out very fast.  The rear barely lasted 5000 miles and the front just 7000.

BOY BobE. , You must be a hard rider. I have about 6,000 on my 880`s and they show very little wear. Maybe I ride too slow.  Undecided

I have no idea.  I believe it is the crappy roads here in southwest PA...they tar and chip them so they have a very coarse surface that is like a cheese grater on the tires.  Also, most of my riding is back and forth to work over back roads with lots of hills and curves.  I don't ride alot of interstates unless I go on a trip...maybe 1 or 2 times a year.  I ride briskly, but I don't believe I ride out there on the edge of the limits by any means.  What I mean by that is the speed limit is maybe 35mph on the back road I take to work every day...I probably run 45-50mph most of the way.  My highway pegs drag once in a while, but my foot pegs almost never touch the ground.

The most I have ever seen was 10,000 from a front (Avon Venom) or rear (E3) tire.  Currently, I have about 6800 miles on rear Avon Cobra and it might make it to 7500..maybe.  I've got about 4800 on the front Avon Cobra and it still looks pretty good...we'll see how far it goes.

I have no idea how people get 20,000 or more miles out of a set of tires.

I'm not telling most of you anything you don't already know but, air pressures are critical to tire wear. Too low pressure settings especially 2-up will drastically reduce mileage.

I just bought my new Metz front tire on e-bay for $120 + shipping.  I did a search for Metz tires and found a seller who would accept an offer, so I offered him 120, and he took it.  You may wanna try that.

I had similar results with two sets of Metzlers. I got 6,700 out of the rear. The front is still on the bike while I wait for it to wear out. But, as mentioned, I think that too low of pressure probably did mine in a bit earlier. I had been running 33-36 psi (stock recommendations) without realizing the metz should be run higher (41ish). Great grip, but I still would not buy another metz.

My 2 200mm rears lasted 15,000 miles. Or was it 3 tires, not sure. My second Metz front lasted 21,000. Love the Metz.

Don't expect more than 9,000 miles with a mc tire.
I know some claim extreme wear, but they must live on perfect roads and drive like an old fart.

I actually bought one today through Amazon.com $123.99 with free shipping suppose to be here first of next week. I have about three hundred miles on my Falken 512 Darkside and just raised my air pressure to 40# I think it feels better there than when I was at 34. Get a new front tire I won't know what to do. I have a 2001 Standard and I beleive it was the orginial Dunlops on the bike, just over 10k miles. Inzane is coming and I can hardly wait to meet everyone learn about my bike and RIDE!! JDW cooldude

I know...except that I ride 99% solo and I kept the pressures at 45psi...and my mileage still sucks.

I run 40 front , 41 in rear. Most of my riding is about 50/50. I`m @ 165, Wife @ 125. We ride mostly back roads, smooth, back roads. Very little interstate speeds. I had Metz.`s on a 1100 Spirit that I sold with 7,000 on them and showed little wear. I will stay with Metz. for now.  cooldude
