Was riding home the other night, at legal speeds of course, and I noticed the bike sounded different. Marne it was me, maybe I heard a mustang pass me...

Well when I took the leather Luke bags off of my 98 standard, I found the left side to be missing the tips on the exhaust.

Is this uncommon for them to fall off? Never gave them any thought till I lost one.

Ordered one off of eBay...apparently people lose the right one and there were a bunch available for left side- relatively cheap.

First I've ever heard of.

Can only fall off, it the bolts fall out  (or are left off).

It's a start!

Thanks. Will call dealer and order the bolts.

Appreciate the diagram.

Any tips or tricks on getting the bigger on?

The tips slip fit on the exhaust cans.  Tight fit.  I used a 1 X 4 and rubber mattet to tap mine on.

Line up the bolt holes going on.

You will pay 3 or 4 times what them bolts are worth at the Dealer.  Remove one from the other side and take i to ACE Hardware and match it with Stainless hardware.  Youll get a better bolt for half the price

6.00 for 3 bolts, nuts, washers. Eh...not going to break the budget.

And I'll have the info to go to local store to upgrade if necessary.
