Hey all watched some videos on you tube about carb removal and disasembly done by DRays shop  I followed all his instructions.  after removing and cleaning all 6 carbs I was going to reassemble when my wife bought me a Clymer manual.  Well now I am in a fix and would like some imput as to how to proceed.  tickedoff  In the video he said the only thing that needed to be done was that the carb slides needed to go back in the carb it came out of.  Well after reading the Clymer manual it said WARNING that I needed to put the intake tubes back on the same carbs, WARNING same thing with the pilot screws.  I didn't keep the intake runners or pilot screws separate.   So how do I proceed from here?

Also the hoses need to be replaced and I need to know if they are gas or vacuume hoses, not knowing,  I bought 10' of fuel hose  which is same Inside diameter but the outside diameter is bigger around.   WHAT TO DO????????

Any info would be GREATLY APPRECIATED...

Thanks in advance,

Tony  (Wewaman)

First off, I suggest to desmog the bike and that way you needn't worry about all the hoses, but any will work Ok, what you purchased will work fine.

the slides back in the same carburetors is good.

Same bowls and gaskets.

I would not worry too much about anything else, especially since everything is all cleaned up good.

Hope you took pictures of the assembly because the linkage is the most troublesome.

Good luck.

new bowl gaskets with scotch 847 adhesive.  I will search the desmog and proceed from there.

thanks so much,

Adhesive is not necessary and and not recommended for anything on the carburetors, especially not in connection with the gaskets.

That would be just asking for trouble.

+1 on Adhesive not needed

Regarding Desmog, Red Eye has a great desmog kit if you like the Bling!! Grin

just read about the desmog and I am wondering why does this need to be done?  Also I already put the bowls back on with the adhesive. Do I need to order new gaskets and put on w/o  adhesive ?
not opposed to doing desmog just wondering why..
also in reading the Clymer it says to run pilot screws down till you feel it touch then back out the # of turns you counted before removing them.  well I replaced the washer and o'rings on the pilot screws and when I run them down till it touches then back it out say 1 3/4 turns the pilot screw is sitting up above aluminum housing that the screw sits in.  I know that can't be right because I had to use a hacksaw to cut a goove DOWN to the actual screw.  Where do I go from here???????

may have bitten off more than I can chew...

That's something you have to figure yourself. (r&r the gaskets)

Desmog eliminates most common vacuum problems (on a scale 1 to 10) is 6-7 on run-ability complaints.

Try verifying you are at the bottom by screwing the needles in without the O-ring and spring. And use some oil as a lubricant.
