I'm gonna order a new Clearview Windshield and trying to decide what height to order ! The stock Hondaline is 21" - I'm 6' and the top hits right in the center of my line of vision ! I'm leaning toward the 17" because I do prefer some wind on my face - would the 17" still block a lot of wind on my upper body ? Any suggestions would be awesome !

I'm have the same line of view. Each spring (Michigan) I tilt the stock shield. One inch out at the bottom tilts the top forward and down below the line of vision. It increases turbulence behind the shield. Rode into a heavy rain a few weeks ago and had to duck into the pocket behind the shield in front of the gauges for clear vision (sun-glasses). Much more comfortable ride.

The proper way to size a windshield is mark a spot 50 ft in front of the bike and sit how you normally sit and wherever your line of sight through the shield hits the 50 ft mark would be the proper height. That gets you pretty close and most shields have some height adjustments in the brackets to fine tune it. In the end you should be looking over the shield and see pavement 50 ft in front.
Hope this helps.

I'd go taller then tilt it back like a fairing as far as you can....but in any event, you want it at nose height (or a tad below), not eye height. You do want to be able to slouch below it to see in a deluge.
Center your bike up with a 2 x 4 under kickstand, sit on it comfortable, not at attention, and not slouched, reach out and stick a piece of masking tape where you want it, measure to that.
Save your old one, polish it up the best you can (on the bike is easier), then cut it down for a summer shorty you look over all the time. Spend for the taller/safer shield.

Thanks for all the great advice and tips ! IF it ever stops raining I'll do some site measures and go from there - I'm in no rush ( good thing - the rain we we've gotten here in the Florida panhandle is insane ! It's rained everyday for weeks now - most I've seen in July in the 22 years I've lived here ! )
I took the shield off completely this morning to to feel the wind - I felt like I was riding a mini version of my Triumph ! Reminded me of my age and how great a windshield and the weight of the beast is !

I had a 65 Triumph Bonniville. Had as in you don't have it anymore ? I had a 68 Bonnieville in high school - I really like my 04 Speedmaster - reminds me a lot of the 68 ( and these new ones don't leak oil ). It's sort of finicky but when it's running good like now - it's a blast ! I have no plans of ever getting rid of it - I picked it up 4 years ago after a 28 year break from riding ! Now here I am with it plus 'The Beast ' life is good ! I rode up until 2 weeks before Becky and I got married 32 years ago - she finally caved with my 28 years of whining and told me to go get one - she went to her niece's wedding out state - came home and saw the Triumph sitting in the driveway ! She's totally fine with them now and says she's never seen me smile so much ! I think she realized that I've worked out most of my stupid over the years !

No that was my first bike. Had to have a HD. Never thought I would still be riding 45 years later.

Back to your purchase. LOL! I have the 21.5 inch Clearview shield and it's just about perfect for me, I'm 5'10". The 17 inch Clearview is way to short for you unless your into buffeting. FWIW.

Thanks Salty -I'm in no rush ! I'm gonna think about it for a bit before pulling the trigger ! Nope, I'm not into buffeting at all ! At 60 years old, those days are in the past and I have the Triumph to have the death grip when I have the urge - ROFL !

I have a 17 inch, I'm 5' 10" buffeting is not a problem, I think the vent I added took care of that. Hoser That clearview is so clear, it don't even look like it has a windshield in this pic.
