trailer wiring

Last year I bought a trailer, wired everything up but did not use a power converter. The lights are really dim during the day. Im wondering if I convert all the lights to led is a converter still needed considering they draw a lot less than incandescent bulbs?

If you convert to LEDs, you don't have to use the powered converter. I have the Hoppes #46255 powered unit on both bikes. I use conventional bulbs and have very bright lights.

I was wanting to go with led's anyway. I dont know my reasoning for not adding a converter last year, I bought one and now it is missing. Ill just order some led replacements and go that way. Thanks for the reply sandy

If your trailer lights have separate yellow turn signals like your bike, it should work, except for overloading your light circuits. LEDs as trailer lights would be better than incandescents because of the lower current draw. If your trailer has combined brake/signal lights like most trailers do, you'll need a converter. Some converters take power for he trailer lights directly from the battery to prevent overloading the tow vehicle's wiring.

Separate is the easiest to wire up.
