Guys,
any advice on this,I took my valk out for a ride last week for about a 30 mile spin. All went well, as I parked it up to open garage door, stepped back up on her, selected first gear, began to move forward i noticed a kind of vibration or a shudder as i moved forward, this happened as I released the clutch.
I then took it back on the road and it disappeared, however, as i stopped and moved away it happened again
Have I a clutch problem ?

Sounds like a good possibility, check the level of the fluid in the clutch handle reservoir first. If it is dark colored it needs flushed and refilled with new fluid.  Hoser

With the little bit of information you supply I would have to say that that sounds to me like operator error or the wrong oil in the motor.

Your words are how I discribed what my bike does too on occasion.  I have the correct oil and good fluid.  It has done it for about three years off and on for about 10k miles.  It has not progressed to anything else.  I am just going to ride it until something happens and then fix it.

Just ignore Ricky-D, he might be one of your British countrymen hiding out in the USA.   Roll Eyes

How many miles on this monster ? How has it been ridden ? Any clutch shudder when taking off in first is generally a sign of sheared rivets. May be time for a little clutch repair.

Howdy Patrick,
There is 32678 on the clock, I had some problems at one stage with getting neutral, that seemed to go away after some adjusting and checking for air in the system.
i do believe that there is still something unusual going on still as my brothers Valk is smooth while changing gears in fact there is no comparison with his and mine
I am concerned that there is a problem. I admit that Im in no way mechanically minded.
I thought these bikes were bullet proof ----maybe they are and Im a wimp !!

It's rare to actually wear out a Valk clutch.  Most times, clutch problems go away when you completely replace the fluid and bleed the system properly.

But, along with that, check the condition of the lever, the pivot bushing in the lever, and the bushing for the rod that pushes into the master cylinder.

The rivets in the damper plate of the clutch pack do come apart sometimes.  It has mostly been known to happen in 97 and 98 models around 60,000 miles.  The true telltale sign of this is when the clutch handle won't pull all the way to the grip.  This may be an intermittent symptom.

Replacing the clutch isn't that hard a job: http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,20870.0.html

Something else I thought of was that since you have a wet clutch the wrong motor oil or oil that should be changed may cause a problem.
I run a synthetic oil and though they say I can run it for 8000 miles I've noticed that around 6500 miles things just don't seem right.
Just a thought.

Mine was doing a lil shudder too. I notice pivot bolt for the clutch lever needed a lil lube. Also the brass piece might have some wear. I flushed the whole system, I even pulled the slave cylinder and cleaned out all the mud that built up over the 113k miles.
