G'day from DownUnder.

I have fitted a set of Cobra 6 into 6 to my 1997 GL1500C.

Our standards are 94db at 5000 rpm. I am a bit worried i might be too loud  tickedoff

Does anyone know how to soften them a bit for the authorities?

Cheers

If you are ever stopped by the boys (or girls) in blue, just tell them that this is the way that Honda made them ....  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

maybe, but they sound awesome don't they?!

if you get into strife, you've always got your standard pipes to put back on.

Mine are modified in two ways.  I welded a freeze plug onto the front end of the baffles and drilled a 9/16 hole in the freeze plug.  I also bought some fiberglass cloth and wrapped each baffle with a couple layers with the cloth and used stainless steel wire to secure the fiberglass.  I used fiberglass that you can buy in a kit to repair small damage areas.

Do you have any pics of the mods you did to the baffles?

I too love the noise my Cobras make, but also worry about tickets.

Did restricting them like that kill any power?

I don't have any pics if you're question is directed to my post.  I picked both of them off this board so don't lay any claim to their invention.  Take one of your baffles out and take it with you to the parts house, I don't remember the size.  Find one that will just fit over the front end of the baffle and you can weld around it to close the end, but will also fit inside the pipe.  Then drill a 9/16 hole in the freeze plug.  The person that originally posted this said that he tried a 1/2 inch hole, but he felt like it lost power or was too restricting.  As far as the fiberglass cloth as I said in the other post it is what is used for patching your boat or similar, it comes in a box with around a 3 ft. square piece and you cut it so that you can wrap each baffle two layers and then I used some stainless steel wire around 20 ga. and tied it on one end then spiraled it to the other end and tied it off.

I have cut down Cobras and ordered the baffles direct from Cobra.  I have noticed a change compared to the open pipes when going uphills and above 5500/rpm .  The baffles cost less than $150.00 with shipping. Yes, i like the sound, it idles well and screams without the sharp bark when I twist the grip and the droning is gone. Just my $0.02 on Cobras with & Cobra baffles.
