I am going to ride Pikes Peak this Saturday, August 10th and hoping some fellow Valkyrie riders can join me.

Who: You
What: Ride 19.5 miles around 162 turns, making a 6,000ft ascent to the top at 14,115 feet.
When: This Saturday, August 10th @ 10:00am
Where: Pikes Peak Highway Main Gate
5069 Pikes Peak Hwy, Cascade, CO 80809
How: Gas up & Show up
Why: Because it would be glorious to see a group of Valks atop that mountain.

After the ride we can stop to eat at Rudy's a local watering hole outside Manitou Springs and order BBQ by the pound.

PS. I do have a car tire on the rear you might have to help me get around some of those switchbacks. ok!

I spent the day scouring the VRCC site and emailing Colorado riders. The site says there are 752 Valk riders, but this isn't very accurate. I maybe sent out only 50 emails. I am also looking into vehicle registration but not having much luck there. Just having a thought.. if all 50 respond and go.. Help!

Josh, friend, someone had suggested you contact the VRCC Colorado state rep.  I would second that.  I'm sure he will be familiar with a number of Valkyrie riders interested in being part of the VRCC.

If you wish to also make contact with the Valkyrie riders not interested in being part of the VRCC you'll be on your own for that.

There are no deletions made to the VRCC "member" list, thus anyone who ever registered is still there.  I would agree that's really not vey accurate.

Best of luck.

Its 8:30 Friday night. Watching the news.. Hwy 24 around Cascade just got pounded by a storm. Massive flooding. No word yet if the road is closed. I will get up early to check and make a post. We may have to have a plan b route on the back burner.

If we cannot get up Hwy 24, the secondary meeting place will be at Rudy's restaurant at Hwy 24 & 31st.

@ 10:25pm CDOT announced that Hwy 24 has lanes open eastbound to Cascade. It will be slow going, expect delays, and give yourself a little more time. At this time it appears as though getting to the Pikes Peak Highway is a go.  cooldude

A bunch of shots from the ride today:

Around 8,000ft:

Crossing the dam:

At the brake check station, on the way up:

Above Timberline (11,880 ft)  Yep - snow in August.  He's pointing at a herd of forkhorn antelope off camera, which I have never seen this high.

On top at 14,128ft.  Muddy, some slush, temp 35° (warmer now)

Yours Truly, Misfit, & Deerslayer:

Heading down, above Timberline:

At the brake-check lot again:

A bicyclist ran off the road, traffic stopped to help.  Sorry fellas, the speed limit is for EVERYBODY.  And there's sand on the road from the weather yesterday.

At Rudy's popular BBQ just when the road levels out again in W Co Springs.  I hate lines but the chow is really good!

I'm sure more pics are pending...
