This ride will be very similiar to the same ride we have taken a few times before. It is a sweet 3 / 3.5  hour ride + lunch. So about 4 /4.5 hours total, around 160 miles from Altoona Hy-Vee (kickstands up at 9:00 am) down into south central Iowa. We will go around Red Rock Lake, head west through Knoxville, New Virginia, Martensdale, Winterset, and end up around Booneville and I-35. At that point or wherever you choose along the way, we can head off for home. This is a classic central Iowa ride ... an oldie but a goodie. Thanks for the lunch suggestion of Mr C's Steak House in Knoxville, Darrell. Here are 2 more that I think would be good as well. Dengs Chinese Restaurant in Knoxville gets great reviews also the Roadside Inn in Martensdale is a pretty good place to eat. Is anyone planning on going on this ride? Do you prefer Mr C's, the Roadside, or Dengs?  Hope it's not too warm. See ya there!

I'll bring the Chevy, and maybe my son will bring MGM.

That way everyone can see the Trike Kit like Fuzzy's in person.

Keep your powder dry.

I made some changes and need some input on the September ride. Please read the edited original post and let me know if you can make it and what restaurant of the 3 choices you prefer. My preference would be Deng's because I love Chinese and this restaurant gets great reviews but I understand some riders may not like Chinese food. Mr C's or Roadside would be fine with me as well. Thanks in advance for your input. Also the IAVRCC on Yahoo seems to be very different than it was a few days ago but I will attempt to post on there as well.

I plan on being there, and my son & his bride will be on MGM.  Anyway he said yes when I asked him but things can change for him.

I'd prefer Mr. C's, but anything where I can sink my teeth into some food is A OK with me.       So don't count my vote, I'd hate to sway every one.    LOL.

We will be eating at Mr. C's in Knoxville. In reading the reviews people either love it or hate it!  I think it will be great! Thanks to the riders who have let me know if they are coming or not. See you then!

If it is in the face of the tire, I plug it.

If it is in the sidewall, ya has to replace it per the feds.

Today my friend Rod Fitch and I were doing a pre ride for the ride scheduled for September 7. We were west of Chariton on Hwy 34 going west. It was 3:20. I  was nearly involved in a head on highway speed collision. I still don't know how I avoided impact because I definitely thought I was a dead man. I give all the glory to God on this one. Rod hit a car and miraculously suffered only moderate injuries. He could easily have been killed. His Wing was pretty much destroyed. I'm sorry to inform you but I am not going to be able to lead the ride on Saturday. I just can't do it right now. I rode mine home from the Chariton Medical Facility and I don't plan on quitting riding but I am just not up to leading a ride.

Feel free to have a ride if you can put one together under this short notice. My apologies to all. If any of you have looked at your imminent death and somehow survived I think you might understand. Very sorry. Harv

Harv, email me your route and I'll lead it.

We will start at the same place and leave at the same time.

I know what ya feel like in having a bad accident and get out of it.

Sorry to hear about your buddy.

The ride is just in my head. It isn't written down anywhere. I don't think it's important to take the exact ride I had planned. There is plenty of time for you or someone else to plan or take a ride from the past.
