I was topping off my tank today and hit the handle and had a wave of gas come down the tank dousing the front of my new seat (and my crotch--but lets not talk about that). Will the gasoline hurt the vinyl--and interior padding?

It'll be fine if you don't light a match. I would take the seat off to give everything a chance to evaporate in a well-ventilated space. Oh, and if your inner thighs normally touch when you walk, don't run! Friction = heat.  Evil

I'm not sure that filling the tank while seated on the bike is a good safety practice.

Except that cops do it regularly.   police

I do that myself as I can get just a bit more fuel in that tank.  In fairness, I normally ride two-up and have my daughter or son (whichever is riding with me) do all the heavy lifting while I just focus on the fueling part.

You mean to tell us that there is 2 ways of fueling a bike.

I pull up to the gas pump, open my gas cap, stick my CC in the pump, pull it out, answer yes to a receipt, insert nozzle in tank.

Pull trigger, till it shuts off.   Pull the nozzle up a little bit and continue to fill it up.     I made my vent tube bigger so it will take fuel a little faster.   Hang up hose, get my receipt, put kick stand up, just down in case I lose my balance, turn on key and punch the go button.    Drop it in gear and head on down the road.    I never get off the bike unless I got to go potty or my water cup holder is empty.

Anyone purchase a new OEM seat lately . I want to order a post 2001 std seat but would like to know just how old the seats are -that are in stock.  I have been burned by getting old stock rubber parts lately for my boats and am real sensitive about buying rotten seats and things. When was the last time Honda made a production run for the standard seat? The seat I have is on my 98 std and the bottom of the seat has a production date for the plastic pan cast in that shows it was from October of 1998. Please look at the plastic casting stamp on your new seat and let me know what year it was made?

Are the new seats from HDL actually 2004 stock?
