Sorry, I turned off my cell phone last night. My bike is down for maintenance right now and I need your advice (that translates into help). I've narrowed the problem down to dampeners, U-joint, or wheel bearings. My bike is still ridable, but it's making noise in the rear end. The rear end was serviced at your house last year (about 8 thousand miles ago). Dinner is on me for you and your lovely wife if you don't mind helping me out. I'm going to order dampeners, a U-joint, and wheel bearings so that I'm covered whatever the problem is. I'll also order the 3 o-rings so that they can be changed out while we're in there. Is there anything else that you think I will need to get before I open her up? I will work around your schedule if you are able to help me out. I will start ordering the parts ASAP. Let me know. I will keep my cell phone on if you want to give it a try later on today.
817-896-2104. Thanks....Victor

Well, noises sure aren't a good thing!..

Sure I'll help...I don't have all the parts or we could just "do it" and you can replace them when the new ones come in...come to think of it...I do have a u-joint and wheel bearing/dust seal if you want to just bring it and take it down to see what's up before you order...I've got o-rings as well

What kind of noises? What's your total miles on the bike nowadays? I may be inclined to suspect pinion cup and drive shaft. I don't have those...but it's easy enough to check.

I'm working nights/weekends (partial weekends) for pretty much the rest of the year...but will have a lot of time off as well as that's a 4-day week and I'm sneeking vacation days here and there...

Sunday's open for me...Monday and some of Tuesday etc. may be as well. What's your schedule look like?

I'm still hobbling around a bit on a tweaked knee...so I may do more instructing than jumping around...it's getting better but it's just not quite there yet.

I've been working alot of Saturday's, but they have been giving me my Sunday's off. I have just over 50 thousand miles on the bike. The noise I hear is at low speeds just as I am taking off or slowing down to stop. I can't hear the noise when I'm riding down the interstate at highway speeds. I'm sure my dampeners are shot and I hope that it's nothing more than that. I can get at set of dampeners from Pruor and hold off on buying the other parts until we are sure what the problem is. If we find out that it is something else, if you don't mind we can use your parts and I can then order the parts that I used from you and replace them when the parts come in. I have the whole week of Thanksgiving off if we can't get together before then. I don't mind doing the work myself but it sure would give me peace of mind knowing that you are looking over my shoulder in case I start to screw something up. LOL. I hope your knee starts to feel better soon. I'll let you know when the dampeners come in. I think I should be able to ride the bike to your house when it's time to do the maintenance. I'll keep in touch. ~ Victor

Sounds like a plan to me! Let me know when the dampeners come in.
