My throttle is loose, it turns about a quarter ways before it engages the throttle and it doesn’t snap back.

There is an aftermarket throttle lock on it and I was told by the mechanic that the bike has bar risers.

The Mechanic taking about custom cables to fix the problem, but I’m not sure that the problem or the solution.

I didn’t see any bar riser on the bike, but I am not familiar with this bike’s set up since I just got it.

I am thinking of removing the throttle lock and replace the cables.  I don’t know what the OEM cable length?

Has anybody worked on their Throttle Assembly?   I am kinda fishing without a pole here and don’t want to financial this shop$ vacation time.

Any help, would help.

First, you need to go to your profile and add the city where you're located. That will often give other riders a chance to offer some help. Re. the throttle, sounds to me like it needs adjusting, possibly both at the bottom on the carb bank and at the top by the grip. Also, if they're not dressed in the proper location it can cause binding in some cases. If someone has added high risers, they may have redressed the cables in a different location so they wouldn't have to buy longer ones. Post where you live, I'll bet there is someone not too far away willing to lend a hand.

How far is Winter park from Tallahassee?  2funny

Orlando's not that far . . . .

I am going to get the bike back this weekend, so I can take a better look at it.  I’m hoping it’s not that hard of a fix.

I am going to use the Valkyrie manual I down loaded and maybe find a Parts Detail to guide me.

I just hate working in the garage in August.

Well, Orlando and Winter Park are across the street from each other...literally. So, having made that trip many, many times while still employed by the State, it happens to be 250 miles....one way. As for working in the garage, I finally ran a branch of the heat/air duct work out there. At least I can work out there year 'round if I keep the door shut.

Are your throttle cables running behind the forks or in front? If the prior owner used high risers, riders will often run them behind the forks so they don't have to buy longer ones. It's also possible the connection could be loose down below at the carb bank. If so, it will cause you to have to turn the throttle quite a way before taking up all the slack. And it then follows that it won't have the tension necessary to return it properly. If you remove the linkage cover on the carbs, with a flashlight you can see if there's a lot of slack in the cable where it pulls on the wheel actuator. Keep us posted.
