ok....    I've been a fan of the Rotella triple T, 15-40 dino juice for quite a while.
anybody here use it in the Valk and like it?
anybody quit using it and why?
    And also a fan of a few ounces of Lucas oil fortifier;
has smoothed out shifting on another bike.

anybody here use it in the Valk and like it?
anybody quit using it and why?

Don't quote me Bobtheoilguy;
just the questions please

15w40 rotella is an excellent oil.  from testing I've done and using additives usually the oil analysis is not as good as straight oil

I prefer 15w40 Delvac and spec wise even better 15w40 Supertech both of which flow better at startup. (I presently use amsoil, I want the best cold flow at startup where 80% of engine wear happens) the supertech has more zinc and Phosphorus than the rotella and delvac.
Spec/additive wise the Delo oil is outstanding maybe the best except for its thickness at cold startup. A great summer oil or living in a normally warmer climate.
There was an oil analysis (BITOG) of an ST1100 using the supertech and it had excellent wear #s and was actually better than some major brands, the owner tests every oil change and different oils.
see oil specs here of 15w40 oils.

Thank you for the response. I know this is an old subject but these
Valks are a different kind of machine and a little more technical than
 a John Deere lawn mower...
now that the ice is broken, anybody else?

I do not think we need to use additional additives with any of the Rotella Oils.
Synthetic, Synthetic Blend or the Dino Oil are all good. Ask any Valkyrie owner that uses this forum. cooldude
I use the T6 Synthetic in the Valkyrie.
I do not have a John Deere, however, I have a Cub Cadette.
It gets treated to the Rotella 15-40 Dino Oil.

I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil in my John Deere.

My truck gets peanut oil from south Alabama.

The Valk gets Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w-50.

Who's next?

another strike against lucas, there have been others over the yrs.

http://www.pqiamerica.com/May%202013/lucas.htm

Advisory: This Lucas Magnum heavy duty diesel oil is labeled as an SAE 15W-40 viscosity grade.  PQIA's test results on this sample, however, show the oil to be a 10W-40.

no you didn't mention John Deere, I did.
I spent 40,000 miles on a Royal Enfield that was far less technical
and WAY more agricultural than a John Deere. I just got my "98"
Valk and want her to last. This motor is more like an airplane motor
to me. Oil troll??   Hardly, just want to do what's right for this machine.
          thanks any- Mike

More than several of us use the Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w-50.

Well more than many use Rotella.

Haven't heard of anyone using an oil fortifier.....whatever that is....or anything added to their oil.....at all.

Ain't rocket surgery, just use a good quality oil and filter and change it often.

As for filters, it don't get any better than a Purolator Pure One PL14610 or PL4612.

Any oil, synthetic or otherwise, is suitable  as long as the viscosity rating is 10w-40w or higher.  To answer your question, I have never used the Rotella that you speak of.  Hoser
