Hi All,
I was thinking I would like to Chrome my front wheel.
I remembered hearing that Honda shipped the 2003 GL1500C with chrome wheels.
When I looked up the part# on HDL, sure enough the wheel part#s were different, but they were also cheaper. This does not make any sense.
Does anyone know the part #s for the Valkyrie Chrome front wheel?
Or, a recommendation for a good quality chroming shop?
I just thought if I could get a new chrome wheel for a $100 more than chroming an existing wheel, I'd go for that.
As well, I am wanting to get chromed the Brake and Clutch master cylinders/reservoirs and I'm concerned with the little glass port holes. I don't want to get my parts back only to find out that they have been damaged/removed and now I have a new problem.
I thought for sure I am not the first one to go through this/ask this.
Did a search and did not find the answers I was after.

Valkyrie Bling and More had some at InzaneXIII, but they were polished, not chromed. A good polish shop should be able to make your parts look like chrome. Mike even had a front rotor that had been polished to a chrome like finish. Hay  Jimmyt |

I believe that the wheels on the 2003 were polished and clear coated, at least they are on my 2003 GL1500D. The chrome was not an original or factory option as far as I know.

correct polished then clearcoated but if you want them plated on the vendor page is a company named CLASSIC COMPONENTS they give a 5% VRCC discount they want $550.00 a set for Valkyrie wheels they have done some metal and plastic parts for me and im happy with the work they will do your master cyl. and the remove the sightglass and weld in a piece of metal in its place

Well that's cleared up now. Thanks.
I guess I could polish up a set of the reservoirs as well. I'd hate to loose the little window because of chroming.

For wheels I would call Bikes2NV in Columbus Ohio. hey are a little more expensive than other platers but they dip 4 times each in copper and nickle and buff each coat before the chrome goes on. He also gives a 5 year warranty on wheels. Best in the industry that I have found. Classic components gives 1 and has not honored that for me.

Same here. When I had my wheels done by them some time back, their system totally ate out the right side bearing seat on the rear wheel and I sent them back for repair. Then, when I got them back there was a lot of orange coming through. I sent them back twice before they notified me that was the last time they will do anything to correct a mistake. I wouldn't use them on a bet now, my bike was on jack stands the entire summer because of it. |

Thanks guys.
I appreciate not having to make that mistake with Classic Components.
I'm probably going to wait for December to pull the wheel and polish it myself, seems like a good thing to do on a dark winter night. I just saw a highly polished wheel and could not believe how great it looked. However the owner was concerned that the clear coat may be coming off prematurely.
Any of you have any experience with 'Powder Coating' a clear coat?
Powder Coating seems to be extremely durable.

If i change my mind on polishing and get the front chromed, I think I'll take Mike's recommendation. This is the wrong place to save dollars. I had have many poorly Chromed parts rust and pit, while the high quality pieces just shine on! Thanks for the recommendation Mike. |

This past winter I had classic components chrome my wheels the only problem I had is that they ground off my valve stem tabs when I asked them not to. I just had my mechanic install the new short straight valve stems. He did have to grind a couple of places where too much chrome was applied to get the wheel put back together.
