anyone know of a good mechanic that knows how to go thru the valk carbs?  my nephews new valk is acting up and the carbs seem like a good place to start seeing how the bike was stored for a couple of years.

Hoping to get it running good so he can go on the dragon roundup in jasper!!!

Any help would be appreciated!

Did you try running some seafoam or other carb cleaner thru it? Might take a few cans but you should see a difference. Thats the easiest way to start. Dump a whole can in and run it for a few miles and then let it set for a day or 2.

If not I know a valk rider up there and he may know where to go. It'll be pricey, I hear.

+1 on the sea foam.  It's easiest and cheapest.  You might want to check to tech board.

Leo;

You might get some better help if you can define "acting up" a little better.

Is it running good while at idle?  At low speed or high speed or not at all?  With the choke on or not?

Need more info.

At low rpm (1000-3000) it runs rough and sputters.  At 3000-4000, it seems to run much better, but not great.  It ran real good for the first couple of tanks, then just started doing this...

That 1000 3000 R P M range sounds like the slow jets. Sitting for awhile with this alcohol gasoline we have these days gums the jets and bowl interiors up. B-12 Chem Tool is my cleaner of choice for the carbs. Dose it strong for 3 or 4 tanks and BE SURE to run it for a good stretch in that 1500 2000 R P M range to get the cleaner into the slow circuit. Park over night repeat repeat a few times. Let us know how ya do. RIDE SAFE.

Let's see here.  You could have sent him for a carb job $400.00, no use of the bike for at least a week  Sad  Instead the VRCC board kicks some fine booty and for a $6.00 can of Chem Tool the bike runs better.  This is why I like this board and Love my Dragon!!!!  cooldude
