I'm not a mechanic by any stretch and this concerns the front brakes.
I understand that the bike has floating calipers but should they chatter when you go over bumpy roads. Seems like they are getting a little chattier as time goes on.
Is there a way to quiet them down.
When the front brake is applied the chattering stops too.

Are you sure it`s the brakes chattering, could be the suspension making the noise. Seems like if the brakes were the problem it wouldn't quit when you applied them. But I`m no mechanic either.

there are curved spring clips on top of the brake pads. over time they lose their curve. if you remove the pads bend those clips alittle with your fingers and re-install everything your chatter will go away. don't go balistic with bending them to far..
what you want is having to push up on those clips with the brake pads when your installing them. then they will keep tension on your pads so they don't chatter.

Quite certain it's the brake pads making the chatter. That's why it stops (the chatter) when they are applied.
I'm not intending to address the issue unless it begins to become more annoying. It is only slightly annoying now.
Unless this can lead to a catastrophic failure. I don't think it can. The pads are just bumping around a bit  over rough roads.

It could be as simple as the brake handle.  What happens is the curved spot that rubs the push-rod going into the master cylinder gets a tad worn and it doesn't turn smoothly.  I wrap a piece of fine emery cloth around a flat metal object like a wood workers chisel and smooth that surface out , put  a dab of grease on it and shes silky smooth for another few years
