I have a 2000 interstate and I am not sure what you mean.

The oval shaped button in the lower center of the fairing is the trip reset button. The Interstate has 2 tripometers and the odometer.  This button rotates through the three LED outputs on the odometer.  If you hold the button in for a period of time, it resets the tripometer to zero.

maybe you are referring to the high beam indicator -- that indicator lights up blue on the fairing when the high beam headlight is on.

Sorry guys trying to get a picture on the site. Theses buttons are found between the speakers and the edge of the windjammer.

Sounds like something the previous owner may have installed.

saw your picture -- that switch with the blue light is not stock. I can guess what it controls but I don't know.  Maybe an audio amplifier?

Also there is no storage box under the interstate seat unless you are talking about the extra little bit of space next to the battery -- I used that sapce to put my CB radio in but that is about all it will hold.

You can get the seat off by using the key in the key hole on the left side of the bike. it is in front of the side cover that covers the coolant overflow storage but it is under the tank -- hard to see at first but it faces forward of the bike -- just look in the opening under the tank on the left side.

also -- the side covers in the picture you sent are not stock.  The blue and silver original paint job never had two tone side covers -- they had solid blue side covers. Also the hard bags I see in the pic are not the stock color either -- I guess this bike has been custom painted.
