The bike i just bought has a tel true dial on it for the oil,sooooooooooooo when you pull the dial how do you check the oil because it is not a dip stick. uglystupid2 uglystupid2

Next time you change the oil and filter, put in four quarts of oil, then take it for a ride. After it cools down, check the oil level on the Tel Tru dipstick and file a mark on it at that level.

Robin mine has a spot on the bottom of the rod that looks like it was sand blasted and at the top of the sand blasted mark is full. If you would like i can send pics i'm changing oil tomorrow .

Mine looks like that.  I still can't tell where the level is with it.   Cheesy

I just use the old dip stick.  I can tell the level on that.  I just keep the old dip stick with my stock of filters, crush washers, oil wrench and oil.

I have tel tru's on both bikes, I also use the OE stick to check level, then maybe check it again in 6 months..... having never lost or burned an ounce of oil as far as I can tell on either bike, I rarely check anymore.

          new oil is  hard to see on the tru-tel dip stick ...         coolsmiley
     compare the oem with the tru-tel side by side and make a mental note ...    ???     
      I have to lay mine on paper to see fresh oil          Angry

We drilled a very tiny hole in the dip stick at the full mark, also drilled the same size hole at the low point.

Stick the Tue-Tel in da hole, gently pull it out and you will see where the holes are full of oil.   Best little measuring stick I've found in a long time.
