Okay I just finished putting on my new tire in preperation for a long weekend trip starting in the Morning.

I take her off the stand and fire her up to move to the wash area. I put her in gear and she dies.

For some reason it is not seeing that the kickstand is up.

I have checked the connections at the clutch and the kickstand and all seems to be in order .

Does anyone know how to trouble shoot this thing or how to bypass it so it will go in gear?

I need some really quick answers guys or I may have to cancel my weekend or take a different bike, and I was really looking foward to a long trip on the Valk.

Thanks

Tom

Just put the bike in nutral.
Lubricate the connections,or replace the switch.
No need to cancel your plans.
I've been starting mine in neutral for years.

It starts in neutral that not the issue.

The issue is it dies when ever it is placed in gear.

I think that switch is a normally open switch. (side stand up)

But it doesn't matter.

The quickest is just cut the wire going to the switch.  Presto.......no more problem

Here's the kicker!

If that does not work, simple bare some of each end of the wires and twist them together.  This definitely will work!

Fix it later when there's no pressure.

A man after my own heart.  You must have been typing as I was cutting... Grin

I found the trouble shooting in my Clymers.  The stand switch went bad.

I spliced the Green and the Green/White together now it runs and starts in gear.  problem is it is like a Harley now and will start with the clutch ingaged or not so I will have to remeber that but I dont think that is going to be a real big issue for me As I always grab the clutch to start even in neutral...

Thanks

Your Bike should not start when in gear without the clutch pulled in.  It sounds like your clutch switch is sticking.  You could pull off either wire to your clutch switch and verify this.
If it is sticking, maybe some wd-40 and exercising the switch will get it going again.
Otherwise, although inconvenient, you might prefer to ride it with the clutch wire off, rather than risk an embarrassing lurch forward when starting  in gear.

Hope you have a great trip!

OOopps That was my error. It will not start in gear without the clutch engaged.  Olny difference now is it will run and be in gear with the stand down.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I'll go up the 1st left hand turn you make lol. Mines been wired together for 2 weeks now with no prob. Take it off and put a different side stand bolt, where the spring attaches. So you don't snap it off someday. I screwed mine in lower then the frame. Stand works even easier now.
