All,
As I noted in another pos, I got a CB on Ebay. Wheeee!!!!
Installed today, works, I can hear Truckers on the highway a half a mile from my house. Can hear them thru the speakers.
Problem I have is that the headset does not work. I set all the buttons correctly to my knowledge and there was a plug on the handlebars which I assumed (ya I know) was attached or hooked up. It is a 5 pin headset plug just like I had on my Goldwing The headset was an older on, but still brand new in the package. I also cannot hear the stereo thru the headset when I turn on headset audio option. I do have the headset volume turned up to 20 for both in the V settings.
Does anyone know where the driver headset plug actually connects in so I can see if it is plugged in correctly?
It looks like it goes up into the fairing to hook up somewhere, but I'd like to find something out before I pull the fairing apart. I did not see it running back to the radio or a plug on the radio under the seat to plug it into. There is a 5 pin connector under the side panel that I think is for the passenger hook up.
If it is plugged in then I will see if I can find someone with a head set to try it out.
Any help appreciated.
Brad

The connections are under the right side cover. They look a lot like the end the headsets plug into. You should have had to seen them when you plugged in the CB. I just happened to think, you can find the connections by following the cable from the rear headset. At least you can see the connection point. I would imagine the headset cords hook to the main radio box

The rear headset was disconnected buy the PO... I have the cord. I did see the connector for that.. red 5 pin, but I will look for the other, I only saw the one open connector, no other open or connected.... When I followed the one on the handlebars for the front, it went up into the fairing... But who knows what the PO did...LOL. Will look at it with fresh eyes tomorrow.

Does anybody have a full shop manual that might show the connection?
Nothing I can find in my Clymer.

Not sure if this helps at all. Got it off the HDL Web site. http://vrcc.photostash.com/vrcc_32065/MBY3F4100ZA.gifhttp://vrcc.photostash.com/vrcc_32065/MBY4F3100B.gifI have a PDF of the service manual put the page with the wiring diagram isn't real clear as you zoom in on it. Is it possible you need to rear headset cord connected to make it all work. You said you have the rear cord. Instead of messing with the fairing why not try connecting the rear cord first. If the front still doesn't work still if you get anything out of the rear connector. Craig

Well, checked all the connections. BTW, the front headset does connect under the fairing on the left side. Of course when you go to take off the panel at least 2 of the brass inserts to hold the screws in strip and you have to play merry hell to get the panel off without scratching or breaking something...
But all the connections look good, so I'm thinking its the headset itself.... will be hooking up with my Dad tomorrow for a ride and I will try one of his to see what it might be. Will also try the one I have.
As I look at the headset I bought, it was an older model... still in the package.. date on the back was 1989!!!! It is a J+M 5 pin and should have worked, as Dad is using headsets from his 1985 Wing on his 2006 Wing currently....
THe CB works, as I said, I can hear truckers several miles away on 19..... with the squelch turned up to 10....
WIll post what I find out and my install for my super Valk one of these days.

Well it's official.... the new in the package headset (date on the back 1989) is the problem. Patch cord is good, just not the earpiece....... I tried it out on another CB and no good. Tried a headset that works on the CB and all is good...
Just have to find a new headset....
