I pull off the road . Interstate(2001) gets the needed fuel and all is normal until the next demand. Inspected the oem petcock and found the diaphragm not properly installed, reinstalled  the rubber to fit in the groove. Ran 30 miles at 65 mph. life is good... In retrospect the petcock should have been my first troubleshooting check. Ordered new rebuild kit, will install upon next sign of fuel starvation.

I installed a couple of the rebuild kits in the Interstate.  It seems that in my case the diaphragm would always develop a vacuum leak on the vacuum side and not hold the fuel side open.  Found out that on the last one if I had plugged the small weep hole on the bottom it would have helped me get home.  It did get me home, but wouldn't run as fast as I wanted.  Anyway I was always a proponent of using the repair kits from Honda.  I finally gave up and put a Pingle manual valve in the last time it failed.

It is good to get home.  cooldude  ... when you plug up the weep hole to stop a leak,
the leak doesn't go away... the petcock fills up on the inside and then starts running down
the vacuum line to #6. Fouls the plugs, and risks hydrolock. The PO did it to my buddy
Gary's bike and he had to start it in the yard because raw gas came out of the left pipe.
Caused a dead spot in the grass where he started it in the yard though...  crazy2
