My Valkyrie is a 2000 Standard.
I have questions for those of you who have removed your tank emblems.
1. Are the emblems glued on?
2. Is the tank indented behind the emblem or is it flat?
3. Does removing the emblems require re-painting the tank?
Thanks for any help with this.

Glued with double sided tape.

No. Curved like tank.

Not unless you get abusive.

Warm them up with a hair dryer and carefully pull/saw fishing line or dental floss behind them (once you get it started, spray some WD40 back there), clean up residue.

You might want to wear some gloves, cuz pulling on that fishing line kinda cuts into the flesh on the fingers.

Is it better to do the heating with a low tank of fuel?
(I was thinking that the liquid would absorb a lot of the heat and make it take longer.)

And most importantly, be sure and post pics of the finished product.

I would do it with a low tank for exactly that reason.  And post pictures!!!  I like the idea of having no emblems and am more than willing to let you take the plunge first.
