I am new to riding a valk. recently an old marine buddy passed and his waife gave me his 98 Valkyrie 1500CT. i have had it out a few times and the bike is magnificent. I love the way it handles and sounds.it has only 25k well kept miles on it, and is basically pristine.  Another friend offered me a fairing and wiring harness off of a 99 Interstate for $500.  I would like to add the fairing but i am not sure if it will fit a 1500CT, and what differences there would be in the wiring. Has anone out there in Valk world ever done this before?   i could use some advice.   mahoney399@aol.com

There are a few who have done the change. Lot of work, and more to the change than just the fairing and wiring. You could search The tech page and find a lot of info. If it were me, I would look at a Woodies fairing and the kit to relocate the instruments. The Interstate has digital gauges that require changing the sender for the speedo among other expensive changes. The Woodies fairing is made expressly for the Valk standard and tourer and fit and finish is excellent. Lots of fairings out there that would be cheaper and easier to install cooldude

I bought my fairing for $110.00 it's not a perfect fit but it wasn't anything a jig saw couldn't fix. You can make a bracket from your old windshield mount

The I/S fairing uses what looks like the same mounts as the Tourer uses for the windshield, except they're heaveir/stronger. It's holding a fairing with a large metal internal bracket as opposed to just a windshield. So you would have to purchase those expensive mounting brackets to begin with. As for the wiring harness, it can be done but a big job. You're better off taking the advice of buying a Woodies fairing, made for the Valk and looks great.

If your new bike is a GL1500CT, that is a Tourer with the factory windshield.  I would ride an Interstate for comparison before considering the swap.  I own both and overall, prefer my Tourer.  The Interstate's fairing is rattle prone, and wind whistles through the vent.  The windshield on the Tourer is one of the best there is.
