I have 440s on my bike and they"re leaking. Gonna send them back but they no longer make the 440s and said they would either rebuild my set or give me the 444s as a replacement. Does anyone know anything about the 444s

Don't know anything about 444's. I'd ask Progressive what changes or upgrades they made. If I had a choice, I'd take the new shocks instead of a rebuild.

...

I recently broke the left rear Progressive 412 shock, where the rod connects to the upper support point.
Not something you would expect while the not so smooth highways of california.

I got the bike towed home to be safe... looked up a replacement shock on the Progressive web site..
they only list the 412, the HD412 and the 416 air shock..

No mention of the 440 or the 444s...

so did the reading on this forum... hear mix emotion length.. model....

so I did some cross referencing.. found the older Progressive catalog and found a supplier that had the HD 444 in black for around $450 shipped..
since I broke a 412 why not spend more money...

I rode about 300 miles on the HD444... good shock for me.
the bike is more perdictible than before, but could have been crappy shocks to begin with even though i replace the busing 2 years ago.

I weigh 290 and once in a while 2up...
Planning to go to the dark side this winter and run a RFT..

I have the shock set to show 1 thread on each side...

my understanding the 440 were a designed license thru Edelbrock.. and 444 is using progressive ownengineering..

Get the free replacements... and keep us posted...

Seems like Progressive would sell more shocks if they listed the 444's as compatible with Valk's and perhaps other bikes.  Really like to know why they offer it as a replacement for the 440's, but not advertise it as an OEM replacement.  Perhaps let the customer take the risk, if any?

I've had Progressives on other bikes, and they've been an improvment over stock.  I'll wait before doing any replacements on the Valk.

Go to progressive website and click on warranty and it"ll give you a number to call  to get a RGA number. I pulled mine today and put  the old I/S shocks on and they are better that the 440s I had so the 440s are really bad. I'll keep ya"ll posted on the outcome.
