so I have a set of pipes for sale on ebay and I have to ship them if they sell went to post office to check rates most sellers quote 50 to 100 bucks a set to ship I have a box that cobra ships there pipes in when you buy them new turns out 1 inch bigger changes the price by 2 times as much the box is 6 ft long 12 inches wide and 10 inches tall and from new jersey to san diego was in the 50 buck range but 1 more inch and it jumps to over 100 bucks but after bubble wrapping and packing I was able to cut the box 1 foot shorter so im safe and wont double so if you plan on shipping pipes beware of the box size you get

I shipped a set of cobra 6x6's down to X-ring last year. From Indiana to Louisiana for 75 bucks with UPS. Packed them in 2 concrete form tubes slid together. From my local big box hardware store (menards) Wrapped them in Sill Gasket ( Thick foam tape that goes between the wood sill and the footing) About $15 in shipping material. Made it down there without a problem.

Keep the girth + length under 108". That's the threshold for "dimensional weight" for UPS & Fedex. Such large boxes, USPS can't compete. And often they won't deliver it either - just leave a "pick it up" note. Be sure to wrap the headers well, they are soft and damage in shipping easily. The pipes will fit in a 64X12X8 box, and that's 104". Interstate OEM pipes are 62.25" long so you have a few inches for end padding. Make the box bigger than the pipes and be sure to pad the ends against drops. Using proper packing materials the box will weigh about 48". Fedex is competitive with UPS but their handling is better, and their CS is WAY better if you have to make a claim on damage. Be sure to declare the value or you won't be able to recover if they lose or smash it. Trust me, that happens sometimes even with very good packaging. I use custom boxes., have shipped hundreds of Valk exhausts.

I have personally found Fedex to be significantly cheaper than UPS or USPS for larger, heavier boxes. For the smaller stuff USPS is good.
