  Angry
Sorry to report that someone with a Van pulled out in front of John Paul Saturday, midday. John Paul was very lucky and other than being sore and some road rash is fine and back to his Cabinet Shop working today. We both went to the yard to look at his 99 black Tourer and the front wheel is almost touching the chrome timing belt cover and slightly smashed the oil filter. What is strange, are the forks do not look bent back so I fear the steer tube is bent back and slightly to one side. Opinions? Do you think this will be totaled? He has about 18k miles and a nice mustang seat set up.  He is not deterred and wants to be back in the saddle for the cooler temps asa! The driver clearly admitted fault and there was witnesses that let the officers know that the van driver was clearly at fault and the van driver was cited. John Paul rolled of the left side to a standing position and that must have something to see. He told me the only thing on his mind was his Valk. He also remembers the pavement scratching his helmet and visor in front of his eyes as he was skimming the road.  Again so far he is sore but up and about.  Thank You Lord!

If the frame is bent it's likely totaled.

Glad he's (mostly) okay!

Yes they will probably total it with fork/frame bent.  Glad he was not hurt worse.  Glad the helmet was there.

Very heartening that John Paul wasn't seriously injured. Thank goodness for the helmet. Heal well.

We are very sorry to hear this Jerry, please tell JohnPaul that Andrea and I are relieved he's O.K.
I know he doesn't frequent this board. I'm sure we're all aware it could've been much worse.
The bike can be fixed/replaced. Sad

Glad he's ok.   cooldude  Is he the guy we meet at your place ?  I hope he got checked out
at the doc's office. That is the reason I always wear protective gear at all times. Just getting to
old to be sliding down the street on my ass. Bike can be replaced but we can't.   tickedoff

How right you are, "Thank You Lord!". So glad to hear he came through it pretty well. Helmets work if you wear them. Sad about another Valkyrie biting the dust due to some butthead driver not paying attention.

Scary, scary! So glad he's okay. I keep looking at the half-face helmets cause they're so much cooler, but hearing stories like this keep me in the full-face. Keep us posted on the bike situation too, once insurance has their way with him. Hopefully they pay up without a hassle.  When he's ready for another (and he will be ready for another), we'll keep our eyes open for a new phat lady.

Gil this happened in front of DG Hardware 17th Sarasota. He was going about 30 max.

Billy boy. No you met Mike at the Party. John Paul did make it to the Perkins before the Leesburg bike fest.
