Guy is asking a decent price, seems clean (in the pictures anyway), has clean title, high miles (>40K).  Anything glaring about these bikes I need to check?  This will be a starter bike for my wife.

I had an 03 Shadow Sabre before I bought my Valkyrie.
The Shadows can develop a Tick in the engine, it can get very loud. From the reseach I had done it is related to the small oil passages that can get clogged.   My Sabre never developed the dreaded Tick, but it is something to look for.

The Sabre is geared to be a little faster, at the expense of higher RPMs on the highway.

It was a great bike, not to heavy and pretty easy to handle.

Hope this helps.

My 2002 1100 Shadow developed the tick at about 5K miles. I got rid of it because of the tick and the fact that it was a bit underpowered when riding two up. Otherwise it was a nice bike.

My wife has an 1100 Shadow Sabre, her second bike. She loves it so much I don't think I'll convince her to try anything else. In fact, it was riding her Shadow that prompted me to purchase the Valk, my first and only cruiser.  I've added Leatherlyke luggage, a windshield (Memphis Shades, I believe),  and floorboards for her. All are somewhat out of place on the Sabre but she doesn't care. Like every Honda product I've ever owned, it starts, runs well, and never complains. Just started it up after sitting neglected (shame on me) for six months and it ran like it had been running daily.

In short, it's a great bike.

I had the 750 Shadow Aero.  Great bike, good mileage.  Just a little underpowered for my large bucket in the bucket seat and for long rides (12 to 14 hours in a day).  Replaced it with the Valk.  My experience says it will be a great bike for your wife.

The only thing to watch out for with the 750 Shadows are that they are shaft drive and the RPMs will be very high at 65mph or better.  The older 750's had a chain drive.  I was able to replace the rear sprocket with one that had only 2 less teeth and it brought the RPMs down nicely on the highway.

Ok we got a deal!

After some elbow grease (the seller never polished this thing, I believe) it looks much better!

Now the Mrs. needs to get her license.....

Tell ya one thing.... chromed spoked rims = P.I.T.A. to clean up!! (Still not done!)
