None of his business for what purposes you're buying that filter. Tell him to just give you the damn filter and mind his own business.   angel

Why do you need a parts guy?  Just grab some off of the shelf.

Most every auto parts house has them....AutoZone, Daps, etc.

That is a very common filter that fits many cars and motorcycles.  If he doesn't know that, he may not even know what an oil filter filters.

I use an oversized Pure 1 oil filter, PL14459, larger dia about the same height
more filtration area and less pressure drop and will last longer.

Years ago the parts store had a B###h in charge that ran off a lot of customers with her attitude.  I went in with a part number and she insisted on a vehicle application. I told her it was a 1952 VW beetle radiator. She fumbled with it for about ten minutes until she said it was her break time. The guy that took over  asked what I wanted. I gave him the part # and he had it on the counter fast.
I told him what I did , and why. He laughed.

The 14610 is longer, maybe 1/2". Those filters fit a lot of Honda MCs including goldwings. Seems like WalMart has replaced their old super tech line with purolator. FWIW  Roll Eyes

The PL14610 is 3/4" longer than the PL14612.

The PL14612 is more normal sized at 2.5 inches long....and you can still use your fancy chrome oil filter cover if you have one.

The PL14610 is longer at 3.25 inches long.  I don't believe that any of the readily available chrome oil filter covers will fit over it.

Thanks again for all of the info. Can't believe the color of the filters my black and chrome Tourer is quite a contrast.

Black paint or a chrome cover is a must  Smiley

This afternoon I purchased a few at Meijers for 5.39 each. Yes they are longer, 3.25 inches long.  The Stainless Steel salt shaker that I also got at  Meijers a few years back fits. It's a cheap chrome looking oil filter cover for less than $2.00.
Meijers also has the Rotella T-6, 5-40 Synthetic Oil for $19.49 a gal. with $5 rebate that must be mailed in by October 31.

No, I do not work at Meijers, nor do I have stock in the company.
I am just frugal.

some of these longer filters are just longer cans not filter material. there are sites that show them cut open.
