All the Hooters in TX are owned by one franchisee. To celebrate 20 years in TX, they are doing a Texas Road Trip Passport promotion. Get a Passport at any area Hooters and visit 20 different stores by Sep 7 2009. Completed Passports receive a wing party (200 wings) and are entered into a drawing for a 2009 Harley Fat Bob (big woop we already got the greatest bike ever built) for the kids to tinker with. I have mapped out the 14 stores in the DFW area. This could be done as an all day run, or as separate  East Side / West Side runs. The easiest way to get six more is to run down to the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Possible stops are Waco, Kileen, Roundrock, two in Austin, Selma, and three in San Antonio.

Looks like our weekend in Austin has been cancelled since our babysitter informed us she is unavailable this weekend.  Mary and I are considering starting our Hooters run in Uranus; better know as Frisco, heading down 121 to Lewisville, up to Denton and over 380 back to McKinney.  Depending on weather and how MaryAnn feels we may head over to Garland or somewhere else for another Hooter or two.

OK. What's the meeting point?  What's the route?  Time?

This appears to be a real ride, so let's get the details out to the rest of us and see what happens.

Let's get some feedback from those interested. High Sat is low 90's so I figure temp isn't too uncomfortable til about 3pm. I see a couple of options.

Everyone meet at Frisco at 11am get stamped, ride to Denton, eat lunch and get stamped, ride to Lewisville and get stamped. I say that puts us at 1:30 or 2pm.

Guys from the west could have the option of meeting in Grapevine and get stamped, and meet the guys from the East in Denton, eat lunch and then go to Lewisville and get stamped as a group.

Or the ride could start in Frisco and end in Grapevine. West guys have the longer drive in the morning and East guys have the longer drive in the afternoon. This option would knock out the northernmost stores.

Depending on time and temp, group could continue on to some other stores. I personally plan to come back through Mckinney or Addison.

Those who truly plan to fill the passport by going to twenty stores will want to plan a run to the San Antonio riverwalk with stops in Waco, Austin and San Antonio. We could coordinate this with Houston members who will need to go to San Antonio and Austin to get their twenty.

Mary and I will be at Hooters in Frisco at 10, we intend on beating the heat.  My plan is to take 121 to Lewisville, 35 N to Denton and 380 west to McKinney.  Whether we go to any more restaurants after that is up to how Mary feels and the weather.

Due to Mary's rapidly changing health our plans may change or I may be riding alone.

Hooters does not open til 11am. Getting there much before 11 won't be productive.

I'm up for a Saturday ride!   cooldude  In fact, we're up EARLY for a Saturday ride.   Wink  To Tucumcari, NM.  460 miles.  First day of the trek to InZane IX.

Hayhauler is coming up Friday and expects to get to the house between 8:00 & 9:00.  A couple of cold ones and then a few zzz before waking in time for an 0500 KSU.  We should be at least half way there before it gets hot - at least that's the plan.  Although we'll be on a 'wing, I doubt we'll hit any Hooters for wings.  It's probably going to be a Gatorade, water, smoothie, trail mix, chocolate malt kind of ride with some New Mexico-style enchiladas for dinner.

We'll meet Texas Deb & Laser Pat, Allber, and perhaps a few others in Taos Sunday and determine the rest of the route then.

Y'all be safe, have fun, and eat a naked wing for me.

Sidecar, if you are making this ride, there is still time to repossess your coolvests.

(Really cool that Ghillie is working on his ride coordinator chops!  Thanks!)

Count on it, Chip.  I got a wrist strap for the camera so Janet can take pics while riding.  If you get a chance to head west to Johnson City this weekend, we have a mutual friend out there for the bmw rally.   Lips Sealed

We were actually thinking about going to the BMW rally.  The weather may not be too cooperative this weekend but we have been wet before.  Who is the mutual friend!

Since I haven't heard any feedback to the contrary: I think the following ride will accomodate the greatest number of those interested. It allows those who really just want to meet up and eat to do so without being hooked into a long ride for Passport stamps. It also allows Vermithrax to bail out anytime he needs to after a group chow down. I did pick up 6 Pasports today just in case somebody can't get one in a store.

I am leaving my shop at 10am with my friend Big Boy, in case Serk or Godfire or anyone else wants to connect early and ride to Frisco as a group.

We will be at the Frisco Hooters at 10:45ish. This is on the east side of Preston Rd north of 121. Kickstands up just as soon as we can get stamped, I am gonna guess about 11:15.

From there we will go to the Lewisville Hooters at 1960 S Stemmons. It sits back off the service rd just south of Corporate. We will eat lunch here. If Vermithrax and Mary don't feel like continuing after lunch we can take his Passport to Denton with us and get it stamped and Mary can avoid the worst part of the days ride. Anyone from the west that doesn't want to meet us in Frisco can hook up with us here. We should be here by 11:45 easy.

Then straight to Denton Hooters for a stamp. This store is at 985 S I-35E. This is just north of where 77 exits and runs into town. Depending on weather, time, etc... we can decide on another store as a group or part ways east and west. Vermithrax said he would like to go 380 to Mckinney and I like that ride.

The Mckinney store is at 1775 S Central, on the southband service rd just below 380.

Geezer, I am not sure how fast you run, but if you are leaving about 7, You should probably hit Lewisville around noon. It's just about 300 miles. Las Colinas is an easy jump from there. The Lewisville store is a straight shot up 35 and really hard to miss.

I would guess that many of us have had problems fun with various customs agents around the world, so in order to speed the processing of your Passports so you don't miss your connecting rides, please note that the Hooters in Frisco is north of 190 and north of 121.   Grin

Be safe, have fun, and someone bring a roll of Tums...   Wink

I must have missed the "Bonzo" handle for DFG in one of these threads.

It does beat "Dave in Uranus" by miles, though.

Ride report:
My buds Billy and Big Boy met me at the shop a little before 10am and we got to the Frisco store about 10:40. Slightly overcast and hovering in the low 80's felt like perfect riding weather. Rainmaker was already waiting on us and Vermithrax and Mary pulled in right behind us. Baron's buddy Ron showed up on a pretty Burgundy colored Wing a few moments later. We had about 15 minutes of introductions and bling admiration before they opened the doors. We sat down and got a little hydration before heading out to the Lewisville store.

Ron had left a little before the group and he and Baron were already seated and had orders in. We had a leisurely lunch, hanging around a bit just in case someone else was going to roll in. We finally headed out with Baron in the lead. A moment of mild panic when we saw that 35 northbound was a parking lot but it turned out the obstruction was at 121 business and we were cruising in no time. A quick refreshment at Denton and off to Mckinney.

By the time we jumped on 380 the temp had crossed 90 and sitting still at a light was beginning to suck. Once at Mckinney we again grabbed something to hydrate us before we all headed our separate ways.

All in all a pretty nice day, It was about 92 degrees when we called it a day, so warmer than we would have liked but I don't think anyone was really miserable. It was great meeting people and putting faces with names. We will plan a west side Hooters run in 2 or 3 weeks.

Thanks for pulling this together.  I got 5 stamps because I stopped at Plano and Frisco on the way home. I am having trouble loading the pictures I took or else you would be seeing it right now but I will have to post them later.  Great seeing everyone!
