Got a young Iraq war vet that is having issues with his and da prez and I are trying to help as best we can. Electrical issues and he don't/won't/can't do his own work. It is a 2010-the blue one that kinda resembles a V-rod. 650 C C 90 degree V-twin. And typical married young man with 2 kids-not a lot of green to play with. As always guys-T I A for any and all help. Fergitted to remember-he and his wife and kids are P G R-that's how I met them.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

What seems to be the problem, a lot of the  off brand stuff resembles earlier Japanese bikes.

About 8 months of ownership it has gone thru 3 batteries and now seems to not be charging. He rode in the rain on the first mission then after lunch sounded like only one cylinder lit up. I was in my cage yesterday so no tools or gauges. As I exited I-44 west to U S 63 S at Rolla I saw him pushing it off to the side but his wife in her cage was there. He has already replaced a stator and a rectifier. Talked to my brother and the charging system according to what he said as designed was prone to failure. From what I was able to find out it has no altenator. His mech is a family friend and I mentioned to the owner of this bike(the Iraq war vet)and my brother concurs that all the electrical connections in the electrical system need to be checked.  He thought it was a fuel problem but after running in the rain i'm like 99.9% certain it's electrical. The bike is a 2010 G V 650 Aquila. I have a sneaking suspicion as to the WHY of the previous owner selling it.  uglystupid2 RIDE SAFE.

The misfiring does sound like a rain issue. Without taking a few reading on a multimeter I would not rule out a charging issue, some times cheap batteries can also be the problem as well. Take a voltage reading at the battery should be 12 to 12.5 volts then check it again with the engine running should be anywhere from 13.2 to 14.2 volts you may have to raise the RPM to get it charging fully. Some people have good luck using a battery tender when at home if they are prone to short trips.

Kudos to my brother da prez. He tracked down an owners forum for the Hyo Sung motorcycle. So for those of you that MIGHT run up on this here it is. korider.com I've already informed this young man about this web site and i'm fairly certain he will take advantage of it. Again-thanks bro and RIDE SAFE.

I was told by a dealer in Michigan that sells those bikes that the engines are supplied by Suzuki. If that's the case, it's probably the same as in the SV650 and 650 V-Strom. Don't know about the electrics though. Maybe a Suzuki dealer could be of some help.

I was on the forum my brother found and the charging or should I say lack of charging and other electrical issues seem to be a recurring problem BUT this forum like ours have found fixes and posted text and pictures to help get it resolved. And like us they found better equipment to fix/repair the issues that aren't O E M and cost less in SOME cases. I think they are going thru a teething process not unlike the Japanese machines did back in the 60s. Like I mentioned earlier-young Iraq war vet with a family that wants to ride.  cooldude And he and his wife are P G R. Young couple-war vet-P G R-And he is learning to ride i'll do what I can to help. RIDE SAFE.
