What does the data say?

Corinth, Texas

« on: October 07, 2013, 12:45:45 PM »

It's that time again (already?)

This Thursday, October 10, @ 7 pm is the date and time of our predestined monthly gaggle.

It's about time to head east again, so I was thinking about Love & War in Texas in Plano.

We need a pretty good turnout to reserve the room, so chime in with affirmatives or alternatives.

What say you?

The 1st training session for volunteers for the Ride for Kids is Thursday night at 7:30 at Century Chevrolet in Grapevine.  There may be members at that meeting.  I will be.

In order to avoid conflict with the RFK training, consider

  • Having the meeting on Wednesday (day after tomorrow)
  • Do a Saturday ride/meet (Greenwood?) instead

Whattaya think?

Interesting alternative.  Personnally, I'd rather see it as a Saturday destination than for a Thursday night meeting.

Just throwing it out, but how about a Saturday afternoon / evening meeting and let some of the Houstoners coming for RFK join in.

I think tomorrow night is out.  Not enough time to make the arrangements and communicate them.

Let's consider Randy's idea and the possibility of a meeting next Wednesday night.

Need some input, folks.

If its for the Houstoner's I would suggest someplace westish as some or most or all of them will be at a hotel across the street from the speedway.  Grapevine area would be ok too probably, because I think most of the Houstoners have been there before for the same reason.  I think we had a meet up at the Love and War in Grapevine once.  There's also Babe's Chicken in Roanoke but I don't think they have a meeting room, though I believe the one in Sanger does.  Justin / Ponder has a few places as well.  Lonesome Spur in Justin has lots of room in the back.  My 2 cents.  Keep the change.

I'll post on the RFK post to get the Houstoner's to look here and provide input, or even if they want to join us at all.

Unless something comes up, rain or shine Saturday I'll be riding most of the day. I don't have a route established yet, anywhere will do, let me know where the party's at and I might be persuaded to take a shortcut to DFW.

Sorry for all the confusion.

By next Wednesday, I meant the 16th.

But, I think doing something this Saturday afternoon/evening with the Houston folks is a good idea.  Unfortunately, I won't be able to participate due to a conflict.

I'll talk to the other VP about setting it up.

Dangit!  I fell victim to the Delegation Monster again!  Anyway... here's the plan.

Saturday Oct 12, 6pm, DFW Meeting / RFK Pre-meet / Social, Hard 8 BBQ, 205 S Oak St  Roanoke, TX 76262.  Bring change for the 50/50!

Let me have a headcount please, so I can try to get a table held for us under the name Valkyrie Club.

Buzz, is this going to be where the RFK volunteers eat dinner too?  Might as well invite them to come along.  I know, I know, that way we have to put up with ole Wandererererer, but it will be worth it.

We'll try to get there after a memorial service in Dallas, but likely going to be too late and will just see folks at the hotel or the track tomorrow.

Pray for dry tomorrow. Looks like rain's going to hold off until the afternoon.

Had a good turn out.  About 13 people showed up.  9 or 10 from the DFW area, 2 from Houston, 1 from Childress, and 1 who I have no idea but is on a Ride For Kids Marathon trip in which we were one of his many stops along his journey.  I even arranged to have the entire main street in Roanoke shut down and huge block party with a couple live bands, our own personal singer at the Hard 8, and even a pretty nice fireworks show afterwards!  Sorry no pictures here.  Not sure many were taken, which means less chance of blackmail later usually.

It's amazing that Buzzkill could arrange all those wonderful surprises in Roanoke (close down Main Street, live bands, fireworks) in such a short time. Since the trip to Fredericksburg is in 4 days, or twice the time he had to arrainge everything Saturday, would anyone want him to set something up in a similar fashion for this weekend?   That would be great!!  Thanks, Randy!!!
