On an I/S without a CB, if you plug in 2 helmets with mics (J&M), can you (or do you) carry on a conversation with the passenger without a PTT switch? Is it just like an "open mic" thing cause when I plug in the drivers set-up and thump the mic I hear it in the ear pieces. Is there some sort of "gain" or "squelch" like control incase you don't the passenger to hear what you are saying or breathing or road noise? I don't have the passenger set-up yet so that's the reason I question this.

My I/S doesn't have the CB either. When we hookup the headsets all we do is talk without the need to hit buttons. The voice and music have independantly adjustable volume. If memory serves me correctly you press and release the Vmode button and for a brief moment the volume control will adjust the intercom volume before it defaults back to controlling the music volume. Oncve the intercom volume is set it holds at the selected level.

I have a CB on mine...so it might work a little different...but I don't think so.
On mine...it is an open mic. You have to turn the volume up on the Intercom (push the V-mode button once then pressure the Vol Up button until you get a volume you like...when riding, i keep mine at 15). You will be able to hear yourself talking.

I have a CB on my I/S too. I just bought J&M sets for me and my wife and we used them this past weekend for the first time. We had an open mike too, which was great. Previous owner showed me the passenger PTT switch and I thought she would have to use that for the intercom, but she doesn't. Is that for her to talk on the CB?

I have an Interstate without the CB, but haven't bought hookups. What J&M sets do I need for driver and passenger.

Not sure if I have a CB or not. How do I locate it if it is there?

It is usually located under the trunk. But the easiest way to see is push the power button once and if the CB is installed, the display will get the CB Channel number in the lower left corner. If not...I think it goes straight to Aux.

But the easiest way to see is push the power button once and if the CB is installed, The easiest way may be to look at the back of the bike (Interstate) and see if it has two antennae.

With the headsets mentioned below do you get regular radio audio from the headset speakers and are they stereo? It sure would be nice to not have my radio up so loud when tooling around town and bothering other folks.

You haven't seen those stealth antennae?? i have them on my bike...you can barely see them on the back of the bike (below). Good Job Willow...state the obvious!! Joe
