My front brakes work well, but the brake handle is stiff and hard to pull.  When I use the front brake they are grabby when moving slowly.   Since these are hydraulic brakes I was think that it might be the brake calipers or the master cylinder.

Has anybody had a similar experience?  How did you resolve it?

On a comparable note, the Clutch handle is hard to pull, is there a way to adjust that too?

or Maybe I need to work out more uglystupid2

Remove the lever and clean and relube the pivot pin with a waterproof grease. Then do the clutch lever too.

Not only clean and lube that brake handle, also look closely at the curved "foot" portion that contacts the end of the push-rod of the master cylinder.  If its not really smooth, use some emory cloth to smooth it before lubing and things will be much improved.

And, it's possible to bind the lever by tightening the pivot post/acorn nut too much.

The information on this site constantly amazes me...... I have had this same problem since I have had my bike on the road,, I have been through the calipers twice and made sure cups, pins and sliders were all working smoothly, had the lever off and worked with the master cylinder piston, cleaned and lubed the pivot without fixing it. Somehow I had never looked at the part of the lever that contacts the push rod like Chris suggested. Pulled it, took some emery cloth to it, lubed it lightly, problem gone....

Five minute fix for a problem I have been chasing on and off for months...... and in hindsite, it always felt like it was coming from the lever, go figure.
