I have Cobras on mine they growl pretty good when cornering either way.
Especially the front. I hear it better than the rear. It done the same with
the Dunlops that were on it before the Cobras.

Low tire pressure will cause a tire to cup which brings on the cornering growl. Run a front Cobra at 42. Rear at 46 and the cupping doesn't happen.

Bearings? Drive for the speedo? Brakes dragging? Not much left, but tires. Might look to see if the rubber damper under the fender is flopping around

Throwing things out there ---- Tire. My tire makes noise when in turns at normal speeds. It is an Avon. I don't think I would describe it as a growl. More like a buzz. But it is obvious it is the tire. Bearings. Possibly. They need not get hot to make noise. They would make a growling noise. I would think there would be some vibration noticeable. Speedometer assembly at the front wheel. This would make a growling noise but my experience (limited) would have it being constant. Fender. Inside the front fender are some rubber pads. Sometimes they come un-glued and rub against the tire. This would make a "growling sound" and would be noticeable in turns My bet would be the tire. Particularly if it is new.

What was it like before the new tire ? Like the boys said, keep enough air in it but they will still make noise.

I get alot of noise from my rear tire(avon)after 50% wear but the frt. is quiet. This month I replaced a worn cobra on the rear that was howling on turns at hiway speeds. Now there's no tire noise even though the frt. is almost worn out.The metzlers I've tried were a different story they howled like an old dump truck frt. and back.

Thanks everyone , There is no resources here in Australia for the valk,s and they are very rare here. There is maybe 50 Valk's in Australia. I'll test the tyre pressures in the morning

+1 Don't you have to run it upside down? No, you just have to reverse it. It's the same principle as the toilet. By the way, I'll put another vote for the tire noise. It just does it.

Junior...you thinking the rotation is the wrong way? Heard the toilets flush counterclockwise down there. Drewsom...As suggested, I would check that the rubber flaps aren't loose. If one of those was rubbing against the tire, it would growl...and not give any indication on the tire. Joe

*Whew* Am I glad I checked out this thread. I've been hearing that tire noise during cornering, particularly on the highway, and thought there might be something wrong with the bike. I played around with tire pressures and noticed very little difference and thought it might have been something more sinister, even though everything else was checked out and perfect on the bike. Thankfully I see it just seems to be a normal tire sound issue (I have Avons on mine currently) Thanks guys, I feel much more comfortable now.

Hey Drew, plenty of Valks over the ditch here in NZ. I also agree on the noise like the udders say. I have run Avon Cobras almost all the time and love em for our roads. We know them pesky Americans don't know what real roads and corners are...like we do... They rave about Tail of the Dragon...heck our whole country is like that... Sorry Guy's I love US and your roads...really
