Hi everyone,
I've been shopping for armrests that will bolt on to the sissy bar on my "standard". I have a detachable Paladin sissy bar on the bike. I see some armrests that flip up for around $150 and others like" Love Handles" that  bend out for more money. I'm concerned about which type make it easiest for the passenger to mount. Do you have to swing your leg over the top of the type that flips up? Please help me out. I need feedback on this matter before I buy one I'll regret. Also if anyone has an add on armrest that you would sell me, I'm interested.
Thanks,
giff

The flip up type will be back further than the backrest. They will be higher, but then I don't think I've ever seen a co-pilot come off the bike with their leg higher than the sissy bar.

I like the flip back, because my wife falls asleep on the back, and I don't need to worry about her sliding off the back, the arm holds her in.

I had the IS, and bought the swing outs or removable ones.

We have a set of the Ultimate ones, I think the BBT ones are different... both good I'd guess.

The Ultimate ones fit good onto an OEM sissy bar, and work well in general...

I installed the older Ultimate flip-up rests six years ago to keep Susan more comfortable.  We ride with a lot of Wingers and she admires the passenger comfort level on those beasts.  But now I wish that I had not done so.  The arm rests need to be flipped up to access the saddle bags on my Tourer, and in general they are just not needed.  But now, the wife is accustomed to them and I'm stuck.

The arm rests were purchased off eBay.  When installing, I found that clamping chrome steel on chrome steel did not provide sufficient frictional resistance to keep the arm rests from sliding no matter how much tightening torque was used or what I placed between the surfaces.  My solution was to make two short aluminum straps that secure two of the bolts on the arm rest to the two lower back rest mounting bolts.

seems like a bit of overkill compared to the big bike things and ultimate seat versions plus a few hundred extra bucks but it does do double duty as a carry rack is that worth the extra bucks ?
