Central Florida - Eustis

« on: October 27, 2013, 05:22:35 PM »

Found a killer deal on a set of Leatherlyke saddle bags for my Honda Magna. Style I wanted and the price was amazing....almost had to go to church.....nawww!
They were located 95 miles away, up in St. Augustine, perfect!
And the guy selling them said we could install them then and there, perfect!
Fired up the Magna and headed out, perfect!
Took back roads from Eustis up through the forest to 40 and Astor. On the way, on one of the back roads I had the Magna sitting on 80 and got passed like I was tied to a tree by a bunch of Zip Splats! Every single one of them was running well over 3 digits. Very fun to watch 'em.
Rode on through Astor on 40 over to 11 and up to US-1. Was running 70-75 and getting passed regularly today....great day to go fast I guess.
Got on US-1 in Bunnell and headed North to St. Augustine.....nice 4-lane highway and 65mph posted. Was doing 75 again. I see a bike coming up pretty quick and thought what the heck (was tired of getting passed)....so I sped up some....he continues coming up....I was around 80 and feeling frisky about the time he passes me, looks over and shakes his finger at me.....was a M/C Sherriff on his Road King....lol

That's a good story, at least you didn't get past by a scooter like I did  Embarrassed
It had to be was one of those fast ones, Suzuki Burgman, Honda  Silver Wing or Yamaha Majesty because I was doing 80mph when I was passed like I was standing still.

Wow, over 80 on a scooter? I sure wouldn't even come close to that, at least not at my age anyway. Now, given 50-55 yrs. ago, some stories are best left untold. However, I do know for a fact that some fire engines built in the late 40's will go close to that speed.  angel
