There is a guy from Bedford Tx (Blade) selling his '99 Standard in the classified and on his list of "extras" he say his tags are good for 3 yrs.

Anyone know what tags he's talking about?

Only tags I know required here in Tx is the license tags and mine come due every year.  Or am I missing something here? (it is Monday morning)

I know for the past few yrs when you buy a new car the State inspection is good for 2 yrs (or at least it was on the last new car I bought, which has been a few yrs ago, they may go longer now).

Yep, you can get them in multiple years now.

I have my Valk with a 3 year tag but I seem to remember that if you transfer the title, the extra tag time doesn't transfer and is lost by the seller.  I would not pay the seller extra for the 3 year tag for that reason.

The caution note was when I renewed the license plate if I remember correctly.

Hmmm...

Well I'll be darned!!  I never knew that.

Is there a benefit, besides not having to run to the tax office every year?
Like a discount maybe?

There is no discount, but saves the hassle of forgetting and riding around with expired plates because I can't get to the tag office.  I paid for 5 years, because I am keeping the bike for ever.  And, the license plate fee is never going to go "down".  Smiley

Good point.

But, knowing me, if I forget after one year (and I have) I know I'll forget after 5, or 3, or...

And I can see if it's a hassle to get them. In my little world I go to the tax office for these on Friday mornings since I'm off.  Usually I go in (9-9:30ish) and 5 minutes later walking out with the tags.
But if this routine ever changes (I hate waiting in lines) I'm glad to know there is an option.

In my situation, I work 20 miles from the tax office in my county and work days.  So, I do everything I can either on the internet or by mail.
Man, having Fridays off must be really nice......................unless you have everyday off...  Sad

Yeah it is. Don't have everyday off yet, few years till retirement still, however keeping my hopes up the LOTTO will work out for me!! You never know right??!!??

You'd think having 3 day W/Es I'd be caught up on stuff at home (honey dos) and be able to ride somewhere every W/E, rite?
Not so with me! Seems like I got more crap to do than ever... and gotta take my rides whenever I can sqeeze out a couple of hours!
But again got my fingers crossed for that LOTTO thing...

I know I'm frequently amazed at how much more time I had to do other stuff before I retired.  Now, it seems, I frequently don't have time.

Working made me a much better time manager.  But now, retired, I'm having a better time.  Good trade off!
