The M/C shop that does my tire work tripped on this by accident. We mounted my 3d C/T today and recovering the beads can and will be a total P I A. He found a hard pack(empty)of Marlboro smokes we pulled out the foil liner took the folding lid off with a knife so we had a nice straight edge and I was able to scoop up 99.999% of the beads. Worked slicker than snot on a doorknob. The box will conform to the curvature of the tire and if you don't go too slow over the ridges it works rather well. Both of us were surprised how well it did work. RIDE SAFE.

Tape the flap of an envelope to the inside of the tire and then just roll the beads into the envelope. Works slicker than a 50/50 mixture of slick 50 AND snot on a door knob.

Simple thing like this and 2 other rather good suggestions come from it-so far. This board and the wrenches and gear heads that populate it are worth way MORE than the price of admission!! Thanks folks and may the suggestions and solutions to problems keep coming from the fertile minds here. RIDE SAFE.

Easiest way for me is to cut a plug hole in the tire before you break the bead and pour the beads in a bucket or other container.

This method has worked for me the last 4 tire changes. Easy Peasy... Hay Jimmyt

Sounds like we're a frugal bunch on this board!
BTW, I'm amazed at how well the beads work. The front tire on my Interstate has always been nearly impossible to balance correctly. I'd often have a slight vibration at very high speeds no matter how carefully I balanced it. The last Cobra got filled with beads and it's smooth at any speed. I'm sold.

I can't vouch for frugal myself but I know I'm cheap! I'm planning to put dynabeads in with my next tire change as mine has weights that came with it when I bought it (and brand new shoes as well). I put beads in my ACE the last tire change and the difference it makes is extraordinary. Much, much better than weights in my experience. And now, thanks to this thread, I have several ideas on how to recycle them.

Sorry, Dennis...here's why I like the envelope suggestion better than your idea- Cuz if I could afford to buy a pack of Marlboros, I could buy new beads instead!! Just razzin ya, old buddy.

If you never want to balance your front tire again, CentraMatics work amazing. A little salty to purchase but a smooth ride is worth it. HT

5 lbs, with shipping, was what? less than $60.
2 oz front tire, and 3 oz rear, equals 5 oz total. 5 lbs x 16 oz = 80 oz divided by 5 oz = 16 pairs of tires balanced. Recover even half the beads and you get anther 8 pairs mounted (or 48 tires).

You can buy Airsoft pellets at Wally World and measure out the same ( 2oz. front, rear motorcycle tires ... 3oz rear car tire ) a hellofa lot cheaper than the cost plus shipping for the Dyna Beads and works on the principle.

Great idea on the Air Soft beads. But it must be a real b**ch to get them down the air valve stem?

Great idea on the Air Soft beads. But it must be a real b**ch to get them down the air valve stem? My tire guy seats the beads-lets the air pressure off-breaks the top bead-pours Dyna Beads into the gap he creates with an arm on the tire machine and a piece of dry cardboard so the tiny little beads don't stick to the lube(soap water)he uses on the bead then reseats the top bead with air pressure. Even the Dyna Beads got a difficult time with the 90 degree bend of our tire valves. RIDE SAFE.
