If I am not mistaken and I remember this from Texas History class; it is impossible / illegal for any state including Texas to succeed from the union. However Texas does have the right granted by congress when they were admitted, to divide into 5 individual states. So I am thinking that wouldnt be any more Reps because they are based on population but it would be 8 more Texas senators. Could that be a good thing or just give us 8 more reasons to feel disgusted with congress?

I've stated this before:
I have a "T" shirt (got it through this site) that has most of the Southern states - Texas, Louisanna, Mississippi, Georgia, etc... and worded "Confederate States of America"!!
Has the "Battle Axe" flag in it.

Of all the political happenings going on for the last several years I'm liking the idea of a "Confederate States of America" country more and more!!

All "like thinking" people from the other states will be welcomed to move here.  (of course there'd have to be a test for citizenship.  And some that live here already will probably have to move)

Ahhh...  Nice to dream, huh?

I'm definitely a Confederate-American... but I don't know of any forced migration in history that
wasn't degrading to both the forcers and the forcees...

Careful, boys.  This is beginning to take on the appearances of a General Board topic. police

This point always cracks me up.   uglystupid2   How did this line of thinking work out for England in the 1770s?

These laws were made by man.  They can be changed by man.  Laws are ignored by politicians of most persuasions all the time.  The real question is how far will both sides go to make or prevent it from happening.

If we Texans haven't used nullification yet to tell the feds to back down, secession is not the next logical step.

I've believed for a long time that the more populated and diverse this country gets the less united it is. I think it's just a matter of time before someone tests the waters again. I'm not necessarily convinced it's a bad thing, really. It probably depends a lot upon how it is handled if it ever comes to that.

... the frequent violations of the Constitution of the United States, by the Federal
Government, and its encroachments upon the reserved rights of the
States... have continued to increase, and further forbearance ceases to be a virtue.

a lot of people don't read that document, they just notice that it has the word "slave" in it
17 or so times.

Those who signed the list will be the first to have their guns confiscated by Homeland Security Agents.  You can also proabably expect to loose your ccl.....being as you are a terrorist.

I truly think these kind of things are about to start happening.

As an educated "Good ol' Boy" from Florida..........I have wondered when Texas was going to get this going!
More power to you!
At the very least it will show that a percentage of people in these United States are truly unhappy with the way things are going. I watch the Colorado scenario unfold and can't help but smile.
