A winter car tire built for ice and snow would have great traction, being a softer compound, a negative would be in it's wear. Any thoughts?   To clarify this - This would be for summer riding not winter

That is almost exactly what people are looking for.

Go to Tire Rack, look up a tire like the Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread, and see what compound rating is. 740.

Then look up a summer tire. You then see something around 300.

The GYTT seems to last around 30-50K miles. It's rated for 70K miles. Still a lot better than a MC tire at around 10-12K miles.

 These Nokians also have run flat technology available, able to drive on them between 30 to 90 miles depending on weight  -  at a max of 50 mph
