I like it a lot. Certainly different than what we have, but lots of potential there. I definitely prefer this to the F6B.

Agreed, nicer than the F6B and the Rune but I still like the looks of the original far better. Myself, won't be trading in my '97 Valkyrie for this new model any time soon. Wish Honda had brought out a classic looking cruiser with the 1800 motor.

"I am the law!" -Judge dredd. Side radiators suck. A 180 tire and the same horsepower as the 1800 from 10 years ago. Lame. But i agree it is better than the f6b

Yep. Not impressed. Will keep the 97' also. When I can't handle that anymore, I'll just hop back on my 1964 Cushman Eagel I bought new while in highschool.

Being as how I'm a fan of the blacked out look on bikes in general, I think seeing a black one in real life would be impressive. Not enough to actually buy one, but nice to look at. Definitely like more than the Rune, F6B, or Victory.

C'mon old timers... Think of the potential of fuel injection and a near absolutely trouble free valkyrie (especially for the low mileage guys). I love it but would have to keep my I/S and park them side by side.

I didn't see any mention of a gear shift indicator on the dash instrumentation. Anyone else? For 17 big ones, I'd like to have seen one there.

Why is Honda so dead set against a 6th gear?
If I were buying a bike, I'd look at the F6B and the new Valk, but they aren't doing much for me in the pictures.

It is a GREAT solo ride machine! I like it It was the power slide advertisement that sold me back in 1999, remember, NO SHIELD NO BAGS NO TONS OF ADD ON BLING As it is, what large crusier can keep up with it in ANY way?? Oh, by the way there WILL be some custom ones by owners! Can't wait!Thank you Honda! http://www.honda.com/newsandviews/article.aspx?id=7477-en

The more I look at it the more I like it. Of course I'll have to sit on one and ride one before I can say if it is a definite stable mate for my 99 Interstate. I see a lot of potential in the new bike and for those who "must" have chrome it's a blank canvas. This video (a series of stills) shows the most detail that I've seen to date:
One thing that I know for sure is that this thing should be a rocket ship !!!!!! One online article that I read quoted 115hp and 123 ft/lbs of torque, all achieved around 5000 rpm's. With it weighing in around 750lbs this thing will be able to give a lot of crotch rockets a run for their money (at least from red light to red light anyway).

I like it overall. Would I rather it had more chrome? Absolutely. Is it meant to be a replacement for our beautiful bike? Not for a second. Could it be tweeked to be a little closer, i think it could. As far as it having the same "old " motor as a Gold Wing, I think that is a good thing. Anyone who has ridden a Wing understands how much power that motor makes. Fuel injection is an improvement, not a detriment. Does it need reverse? Nope. A sixth gear? Probably. Personally, I like the look of the single headlight rather than the goldwing setup. That's why I would prefer it over a F6B. Although I wish they wouldn't have used the gray plastic stuff on the forks. Or anywhere else on the bike, for that matter. Does anyone know the weight? Is it less than 700 lbs? Can you imagine how fast it is if that's the case?

I'm starting to come around to another way of thinking about it.
If I can get a good shield or fairing (Honda or aftermarket... wonder what Clearview may do for it?), and good sized painted to match hardbags (at least Valk size) (and if you look at the video above at 1:25, it looks like the signals may have to be relocated...maybe just moved back two inches in the existing plastic lip), a good solo seat with backrest and solo rack behind the seat on the rear fender, and a heel toe shifter, and maybe a radio/speakers...... then just keep it all OE plastic and easy to wash up with a hose and brush with no need to detail.
Thinking of it as a GS (BMW) style Valk - without the off-roading.
The single biggest dislike for me is failure to show off a big flat six engine, but all that cowling will sure be easier to clean.
Still, my two Valks will outlast me with no problem.

I'm thinkin', the cowling is for airflow through the radiators, and not just for styling, and may be hard to alter without screwing up the flow. I think that there is a lot of customizing that can be done to make this one feel like home. There is a lot of stuff on the bike I don't care for, but, most of it can be changed. I for one don't care about chrome except on the motor, and plastic can be any color I want. I like old school design as much as any of us, but, Honda chose to not give me that and if I want to continue to ride Honda, this is the best alternative they have come up with. I just hope there is a hard bag addition that will hold more than a wallet.

BUTT as in U-G-L-Y
I get that things have to be upgraded and an 1800, fuel injected 6 speed Valk Interstate with more modern fairing and nice hard bags would have been something to look forward to. This thing, not so much and it's sure no Valkyrie; it's a Goldwing Sport....

If it wasnt a valkyrie why did they name it valkyrie? You have to look at it this way. Back in 97 they stripped a gold wing down added different tins and tuned up the motor and called it a valkyrie. They did the same with this new bike, so what is the difference? The goldwing is not the same as it was in 97 either.

I understand change... but everyone does not like certain changes... like when computers changed everything... some folks did not like them... or other car model changes... same thing. Change is OK, but this one is not for me. No longer looks like a REAL motorcycle... the " old fashion kind. I am sure there will be a lot of those that DO... bu as posted above by a few others, I am not the only one. Great posts and discussions.

Just messing around I like the addition of bags... I think it rounds out the back end and it doesn't look so front-end heavy. Since you can't remove the radiator pods from up top... so some bags and maybe a luggage rack on the back? I could live with the looks and I'm quite sure the performance will blow me away. I'll be interested in looking at the local dealer when they arrive at showrooms. Nice photo-shop job by the way.. helps me visualize. Loth

Loth Now take all that plastic off from the exhaust headers all the way back to the exposed pipes and integrate the mirrors into the fairing, add a 6th gear and you have a start. It's not about performance because this thing will move. It's about it being butt ugly and a shame to hang the Valkyrie name on it.

That's the beauty of the Valkyrie. One can have it their way. I, personally would prefer hard bags, but not like the F6B's and a fork mounted fairing .
