Will owners of the new Valkyrie be welcomed with open arms to VRCC, VOAi and so forth or pilloried, pummeled and put to the pyre?

I'm sure they'll be welcome with open arms... Might get a little good natured ribbing for their Plastic Fantastic, but still welcomed...

Heck, in a few years when the new Valks are deeply discounted still new in the crate from previous years, I might even pick one up...

What will be funny, in that twisted sort of way that I use to approach life generally, is how in a few years the new Valks will have taken over the forum and us dinosaurs will be ridiculed for our foolish loyalty to an antique.

Vintage bikes are always in. We might not be considered vintage yet, but we are working on it.

Lloyd from Canada brought his brand new F6B? to the VOAI Reunion in Ohio this summer.  Open arms and a warm welcome!

I am sure either one would be welcome here too.

Heck, we have even welcomed HD's!  LOL

Us original Valkyrie owners might act like Cavemen and bring sticks and poke at the new beasts and then either nod or grunt our disapproval.  2funny

there will probably be a dividing line between the classical harmonious lines of the original valk and the hulking, brutish, transformer-like new valk.......

I'm telling you, some of you don't see it, but that new Valk is going to look impressive when you stand next to it. Especially after you see it with some accessories and chrome added to it. I guess most can't see it, I can. It's an open canvass waiting for expression with our beloved flat six. coolsmiley

I agree with jimmy. I think that very soon we will be seeing some very awesome 2014 valks.

My guess is that "someone" is going to start a web site for the new Valks and farm it. As has been done in the past. ;-)

We will of course welcome them.  I am sure many of the 2014 riders will be familiar members, maybe even having nice looking classic Valks at home to ride on special occasions.

its a valkyrie in name only, just like when they named the vtx v-twin "interstate".
this new one is a stripped down 1800.
the org valkyrie only shared a modified engine with the GL1500.
IMO its not a valkyrie.

Well, gotta say since Honda owns the Valkyrie name as it regards motorcycles it IS a Valkyrie regardless of what any of us think.  Wink

Wouldnt it be smart to keep the old tech board for our bikes and add a new tech board for the new valk?

The debate over bringing back the old school names continues.   Charger, Challenger, Camero, (nice )Mustangs. They all had some connection to the original concept of the machine they were named after and modelled after.  The new Valk might be a nicer next step that the Rune was, but there has to be some connection to the original concept. I just don't see it.  I would still like to ride one, but I would, like to ride a lot of bikes.

I hear all this talk about the names "Interstate" and "Tourer". They are just model classifications that Honda has used for years. My 1981 Honda Silver Wing was an Interstate. Gold Wing has also had that name to designate one of the Gold Wings since back then. The Tourer name has been used for the Shadow line and again isn't unique to Honda either.

Kinda like it might be smart to have a general board for any topic and a motorcycle specific board so you didn't have to wade through all the politics to find something actually about motorcycles?  ???

Right. Wink

I'll accept them, mainly because i plan on buying one. Why wouldn't new model valkyrie owners not be accepted by our club? This could be really good for the vrcc with bringing in new members and more people attending inzanes. But this new model is about like anything new, some are going to love it and some will hate it. I do agree it does not look like a classic cruiser but it is the 21st century and nothing looks like what is use to back in the day.

I am sure they will be welcomed. There however will need to be some nomenclature when addressing posts to differentiate between the two generations.

Examples;
 - 1st Gen / 2nd Gen
 - Old School / New School
 - Classic / Plastic
 - Sport Barge / Naked Goldwing

I'm sure the list could go on and on.

I 100% agree. The f6b is a stripped down Wing and this new abomination is a next generation Rune. If you think that was a Valkyrie then maybe this is to you as well. But GoldWing and Valkyrie do not go on the same model name imo. This is not a Valk.

It may not be what everyone was expecting but the proformance is there. Single sided swing arm, 1832 cc motor, is that not what the orginal valk was? More of a proformance machine compared to the goldwing? I like the new valk and think honda did good. I know most of you are older and set in your ways, I wont hold that against you  Evil but I think this will be really attractive to the younger age group like myself. It will be year 2014 in just a few weeks and I remember when everyone was talking about having flying cars by 2010.

I am an old fart, but could like this new machine.  mine is a '97  that is pretty old and I love it.  I did rent a gold wing in Fl a few months back for a 300 mi ride and it was great handling, but too much stuff on it for me.

I could go for this new one and arrange it for my preferences.  cooldude

cooldude Gavins. I just don't get some of the dislike for the bike, saying it's not a Valkyrie and such. It is the 2014 Valkyrie. To each their own whether you like it or not  uglystupid2 (I like it) Can't wait to see it in person. I think it's gonna be bad ass. Especially with some chrome thrown on her.

Ill be fine even without chrome. I think the proformance alone will speak for the bike. I may be wrong but thats a chance I will take. Now just have to figure out what size car tire will fit on it.  cooldude

To each his own. Like it, buy it or admire it. Don't, ignore it. I have yet to see a new member / person here without a sig pic that is asked: "do you have a Valkyrie"? If not, then why are you posting here? Seems to me if you really took a pole of what we all ride not all would have Valkyrie's but are still welcome here. The question imposed seems to be irrelevant when it comes to being a welcomed member of this board.

If I could afford one I'd probably buy one, but I'd  have to look at all the new bikes out there for that price. When I bought my 98 standard the price swayed me . I was looking very seriously at H.D. Road glides .Next to the valk it's one of the best looking bikes out there. But the price, $ 15,000  for one with 20,000 miles . That many miles  on a valk is not even broken in but on a H.D. your not far from a rebuild.

Original post (mine) was intended to be more than a little tongue in cheek.
In other words, "It was a joke, Joe." (I'll tell  you about Joe sometime. Or not.)
