To me, the rear plate holder/ plate light/ blinker assy, is a real eyesore.

My bike has amber lights in the beetle bags.

So what I' like to do is remove the whole thing and install a much smaller, simpler plate holder with plate light.

It would clean up the ass end of the bike tremendously...  Shocked

Having searched, with no success, I'm wondering who might know where to look for such a replacement?

Year, make n' model to source one off,,, would be nice....

Thanks,, Jim

I felt the same way you did...  Got a couple of 'wedge' lights, from J&P Cycle (7 watt stock), and ground out the inside with my dremel, to accomodate a 35 watt halogen (won't melt the lense, because the flashing does not get too hot).  Mounted them where the reflector would go on the bags.  The plate frame is a Kuryakyn, and I mounted a 7 led Radianze light bar to the frame, for a plate light.

Jim, here's what I did, had the same feeling about the rear end. I had a local shop cut out a new SS plate for the license and put a 90 degree bend in a small tab at the top corners to mount the bullet lights. If I have an extra set of hands to help, the rear turns are narrow enough to remove the entire bag/bag mount/guard rail ass'y. in one piece if so desired. Those LED's are bright enough that people following me think my brakes are on. I just noticed....those pics were taken about six years apart.

Clear lenses w/red LEDs.

Radiantz LED's.

Some people have simply taken the reflectors off and cut off those tabs.  Cleans up the rear alot.  Or...you can take off the reflectors and leave the tabs....makes a nice place to add more lights.

I don't know of another assembly from another Honda that would be a direct swap.

Those are pretty cool things, I think they're this which I've always remembered from seeing on a friend's bike:

I went to j&p, I think maybe they only have this now:

Try looking up custom lighted motorcycle plate frames. With all these tiny bright L E Ds available and if yer handy and can't find something already built you get tons of satisfaction makin yer own stuff and if other folks like what ya made-can you say business opportunity??  2funny RIDE SAFE.

There are a number of curved license plate frames or do what I did, I bought a regular black one from Pepboys and bent it to my liking.

Also, There are white leds that double as bolts so you can use then in the top two bolts.

I don't have a pic of my frame but you could go for something like this.

When I built my bandit street fighter in 98. I took a plate frame, frenched in two led light bars above n' below the plate, n' covered n' em with some black plastic sheet with small holes to make the red disappear. Worked as both tail lights n' stop lights. Cleaned up the back end greatly. Also mounted led turn signals on the end of the sub frame rails.

But with this bike I really want a factory type looking mount. One that sticks out from the fender a bit n' looks like it could have come from the factory,, that way...
