I echo the wishes, hope it's a happy and safe day for all. We had an early Thanksgiving this past Saturday with all of Rita's family here. Some flew in from D.C., the rest from all over Fla., due to work schedules they couldn't all be here tomorrow. At one point we had about 17 people under roof, all but three stayed overnight Friday. We had them stacked like cordwood on blow up mattresses, sleeping on couches, both extra bedrooms were full. Lots of giggling into the night by the youngsters, good times had by all. As for grandma....she was in seventh heaven. First time in years eveyone was here at one time. Tomorrow will be a quiet one for us, will most likely go out for a late lunch/early supper.

It's a Family Holiday for sure. Hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving. In our family this will be a totally different day than last year. With a healthy new grand son, we certainly have a great deal to be thankful for.

Happy Turkey day tomorrow, we don't really celebrate this one. We did when the kids were little, now they are spread all over hell, so we concentrate on Christmas.
This year Christmas will be at Red's sister’s house. Her 5 kids and their families. Those total up to 31, Our 5 families, including the one from Alaska. Those total up to 21. So 52 people will congregate in the Senior Center in Linnius, MO.
Everyone pitches in $$$$, and whoever is in charge of it has it catered in. Let me tell ya, some of these caters are super good, some are ok, and some we are trying to find replacements for them. This year it is one of the best ones we patronize. .

I'm going to take a nice little ride in the morning, eat breakfast someplace, then back home to go to daughter-in-laws house for dinner. I wish all of my friends a glorious day of Giving Thanks tomorrow. Amen

George Washington said it pretty well. (from email from Hillsdale College)
Thanksgiving Proclamation President George Washington City of New York, October 3, 1789
Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor, and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me "to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness."
Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be. That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks, for his kind care and protection of the People of this country previous to their becoming a Nation, for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war, for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed, for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions, to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually, to render our national government a blessing to all the People, by constantly being a government of wise, just and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed, to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shown kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord. To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and Us, and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.
And if you're still reading, here's to each and every one of y'all! Jeff

Happy Thanksgiving to fellow riders, brethern and families. I threw on the leather at 8:00 this morning and enjoyed a brisk ride across the Gandy and then up 49th st , bayside bridge and back across the causeway. Very enjoyable ride. The bike sure likes the cooler weather......

I'm convinced of that myself James. I "leathered up" yesterday morning myself, about 0730 and 45 degrees. Rode all over Lake and Sumter counties for about 3 or 4 hours. I swear this beast likes the cooler weather more than I do. I noticed it up in Maggie Valley too. Probably my imagination but she seems quicker, smoother and "happier" when I ride it in the cold.

0730 and 45 degrees? Screw that....I was still curled up with my teddy bear, staying warm. I graciously let Rita get up and turn up the thermostat before venturing out around 0900. I have too many childhood memories of waking up with the glass of water next to my bed frozen solid. And, it was my job to go down in the basement and get the furnace going full bore again. I would stoke it up real good, bank it all around the sides of the huge gravity feed furnace so it would stay warm all night. Gravity fed hot air didn't do a very good job; hot air was supposed to rise, cold air fall. Not in my bedroom on the second floor....cold air collected there and stayed for the duration.
