Not me, and never will.

I like the tune these carbs play on acceleration, wouldn't want to drown out that sweet music!

I wish I would have left mine stock. I tried to quiet it down with Cherry Bomb glasspacks, still too loud. I'm now replacing the loud Flowmaster mufflers on my truck. Going back to quiet.

Always ride with earplugs. I wear them on a cord around my neck when not riding.

The earplugs I have access to come with a string between them.

I find that the string actually transmits picked-up noise into
the earplugs.

I've ended up cutting the string, and using them each alone.
It's quieter.

You know - I've only had my 2000 Stand Valk for around 6 months now so I'm still a newbie in the Valkyrie world !  That being said - I absolutely love the sound of the stock pipes and when I gun it I get more than enough great sound from the pipes !  I totally get wanting that perfect sound - I've got an 04 Triumph Speedmaster that has plenty enough loud pipes, so I'm covered in that area !  Maybe it's just me and my age ( 59 last month ) but I'm really enjoying the quite and smooth ride on this incredible machine and for now, I don't want to change a thing !  I have done the usual cosmetic things ( Ultimate seats, riding lights, etc... )

Hmmm....I must be dead then.  Grin  I have found that the older I get the higher that seat seems to be. As for pipes, mine are aftermarket and have a nice throaty growl with some baffles in place. If you give it a good twist, they still bark pretty good. Hopefully we can compare notes at the next Fla. ride-in.  cooldude

I agree with John,  I'm having more and more trouble getting the leg to go over the seat.  But now I just grab my jeans at the ankle and help my leg over.  I am having serious trouble trying to start that damn screaming RM 250, the kickstarter is way too high......that's why there are rocks and tree roots and stumps in the trails in the woods----right?    just hit 65.

Young whippersnapper. I'm going to be 71  Jan 1st and I cut the crap out of my pipes and love the sound. The only time I wear ear plugs is when I'm riding into the wind ,that can be brutal. I love the sound of the valk motor.

Me, I always have earplugs.  you don't need them now art because your ears are already ruined.

plus, I will have 2 reasons to celebrate the New Year, 2014 and my friend is officially an "old fart".  Wink

I no longer like the idea of telegraphing my (hard throttle) punches.  Stealth may not beat Lidar, but with me coming up the hill, he may not even raise it up to scope me before I see him.  And I passed two Fairfax HOG coppers using it today.  I always wave.  They got some new knee length high gloss riding boots that are bitchin' too.  LOL

After the wife got pulled over a half dozen times, I suggested we remove the Gibson single catback off her Dakota.... but no, she is still goovin' on the noise (if not the performance awards).  Not quite as noisy as Flowmasters, but close.

I enjoyed my ride with stock pipes, but I like the look and lighter weight of Cobra pipes.  I installed baffles to make it enjoyable. Without baffles the drone was awful...I wear ear plugs w/full face helmet on my ZX12 or the Valk (44 yrs young 12 Jan 14) i find the best ear plugs at lows or specialty supply stores with DRR of 32 or 33 decibels.

I agree Jess, I leave before many in my neighborhood awake. I prefer not to telegraph my coming and going on the bike or in the truck. Starting my truck rattles windows. I feel it's just not considerate of me and I don't want to be "that neighbor"
STEALTH movement is the way to go for me.
What got me going on this quiet kick was driving my wife's SUV recently. I thought it stalled, it's so darn quiet I can't here it running at all. I was really impressed with the smooth quiet acceleration, like the Valkyrie.

Had a 85 Wing Aspencade. The backrest folded down making it easy to step over the bike then flipping it up. Probably made to make easy mounting for a passenger but I used it for the aging operator Smiley

72 and still Kickin. Love the sound with the piggies cut. Stand on footrest to get up and over backrest.
Often wonder if that's a good idea Puting an extra 250 lbs on the side stand.

The only thing that might slow me down is the arthritis in my hands. I have it in my thumbs and it hurts like crazy after holding the bars for a few hours. I do use a throttle lock and that helps a lot. I think I'll be able to continue for another ten years and by then I should have 250000 miles on my valk.

I have the same problem.  I've never been able to hike a leg over the seat to get on and off of the bike.....I'm a swing my leg over kinda guy.....and being that, backrests pose a problem for me.  They get in the way.

I'm not sure about stepping on the peg and putting an extra 250 on the sidestand either.

I have a Mustang seat with driver's backrest.  It folds.  Folding backrests make getting on and off muuuuuuuch easier.   cooldude

I use both hands behind the right knee and just lift my leg and slide straight over the seat.  No need to swing it over and around the backrest (thou I can do that too when I am feeling like a ballerina).

Maybe someone should raise the age "Q" more often, sure does get these old farts started trying to out age each other. I guess the Valkyrie has a lot to do with it.LOL
